The real brass horde has already arrived in our area. Have a gun range in Peterborough NH, started in 1947 and doing well as far as members etc. The anti gunners, love the poor, protect the immigrants, stop all progress democrats and ultra liberal republicans, and yes there are some, now control the town. They have attempted to stop the range in court as they say the range has expanded without permits, enroached on wetlands, contaminated the soil with heavy metals, built unauthorized structures, etc. Don't have a dog in the fight, but the club has to raise money to go to court to fight the towns lawyers paid by the taxpayers, the town can keep changing the rules by "administrative acts", the code enforcement officer - building inspector is the local equivalent of God chosen on earth and the whole system will bow to his wishes. So now it is not right to "shoot" over a wetland, bullets in the berm are "lead contamination", gun shot noise is unacceptable noise pollution, putting up a roof over a shooting bench is an authorized construction, lighting up the range for night shooting is light pollution, the presence of the club is "reducing the value" of the neighbor's house constructed with full knowledge of the clubs functions, and on it goes. The ones who want your goods or to limit you in your preps will not sneak in some night and they will not drink the koolaide. They will file a court order, send out the police, enforce the order, and take what they wish. If you do try to stop them, they will tie you up in court for years, destroy you both financially and in the court of public opinion, and all the while prevent you from doing as you wish. Trump and company may try to limit the actions of the bureaucrats, but the EPA and all the rest are well dug in and will survive and it looks like in the long run win. Bureaucrats are all powerful in the long run, in a certain country in a certain period of time, they forced a group of people to register their religion, authorized their removal, paid for their transportation, constructed the camps, authorized the payment for the chemicals used to kill them, for the fuel needed to cremate them, and had the receipts to prove that it was all done legally and that all the money spent was accounted for. They then after the fact stood up in court and said we were just following the laws on the books and only a very few were ever punished. In my mind it is not sufficient to be in Alaska or the redoubt as the national laws will be enforced as the cattlemen, loggers, rural areas, water rights users, educational institutions, etc have already found out and a good portion of the present nation of sheep regard any action taken by their representatives as permanent changes and any actions taken by others to remove those changes as illegal. May end up being either grey or dead or most likely both.
I would agree. But the fact that they're having to forage that far out means they've exhausted resources that are close to cities and are easy to obtain. One or two weeks with no food and considering the fact that they've already had to fight constantly, (and possibly sustain injury) to obtain, and keep, what they had would tend to compromise even the baddest of badasses. They may be experienced, but they're also going to be starved and fatigued by that point and not at the top of their game. If they're smart they'll try to gain your trust, possibly approaching in the company of children so that you'll find it difficult to turn them away. I'd consider that scenario the reddest of all the red flags. You have to sleep some time. But really it's all conjecture. No one knows what the conditions will be like. There are so many variables.
I only wish it were conjecture, Katrina, gun control laws, hate speech laws, anti hoarding laws, building codes and permits, land use laws, pollution and wetland laws, etc. We are 3/4 there on the loss of our rights and TSHTF hasn't even happened. The liberals are more than willing to tax my home to meet their needs and take it if I can't in my retirement come up with the money for the payment, they will without hesitation take my home.
1776 happened with a MUCH more benign government of King George than what we have today. The left is pushing hard, when will we reach the tipping point is the question.
It is the perfect example @duane As always a well thought out and powerful message. I wanted to just point out that everything Hitler's Reich did, even his rise to power, was completely legal...just like here. It is a perfect example of a government that grew too powerful. Everything is done completely legal even if it is completely wrong. We are closer to the same all-powerful totalitarian government than we think for our representatives are nothing but puppets to some higher order and seldom, if ever, answer to the people. In truth, there is not much difference as the government can do anything to anyone if they so desire and, of course, they rule by this fear. I don't know how they got this powerful but it is not what I was taught in grade school where I got all that patriotic crap shove down my throat so, when I was old enough, or my child was old enough, I would gladly march off to some conflict that had nothing to do with defense of our borders or the nation. Say what you will but we're closer to totalitarian government than we think. My guess the only reason we don't have a dictator is it would put too much power into the hands of one individual and the greedy SOBs all want their piece of the American pie.
The book "9 Presidents Who Screwed America" by Brion McClanahan gives a look see to why we are in deep doo doo.
A good look at KAtrina and many of the related issues, all in one place from a well-written resident. From the Zombie Squad folks... Katrina Experiences - Note this is very long - Zombie Squad
About the riots in LA The military and the LA riots. No apple polishing in this document ". . . politics and egos had a significant impact on various important decisions made during the riots . . . Sometimes senior officials merely wanted to appear fully "in charge," or posture themselves to take maximum advantage of the incredible numbers of media personnel in the area. At other times, decisions were made to help justify more questionable decisions made previously." The bickering that attended the LA riots contributed to the difficulties that bedeviled CNG and Regular Army commanders operating in the politically charged interagency environment. The decision to federalize the CNG caused great anxiety among the Guard troops. The Guardview The 1992 Los Angeles Riots: Military Operations in Los Angeles, 1992 A bit of apple polishing here and there, but a lot of good stuff as well. The opening is sobering: Parts of Los Angeles can be extremely dangerous. The county had over 100,000 gang members and there were 771 gang-related homicides reported in 1991. It is not surprising that many police officers admit they "lost the streets" some years ago, with many neighborhoods in the city dominated by rival gangs. " (I added the boldface) I would note that:a current Divisional unit in the United States Army typically consists of 17,000 to 21,000 soldiers commanded by a major general. Two Division and some aux units equals a Corps. These numbers came from LA County alone and in 1991. The US currently has 10 active duty Division units. The US Army Guard has 8 Divisions. The USMC has four Divisions and a single Reserve Division. Gang membership in the United States was conservatively estimated at 1 million members as of September 2008, based on analysis of federal, state, and local law enforcement reporting--an increase from an estimated 800,000 members in 2005. Current estimates include approximately 900,000 gang members residing within local communities across the country and more than 147,000 documented gang members incarcerated in federal, state, and local correctional facilities, according to state and federal corrections data. I found the math disturbing, and it became a great plot device. I don't know how the gangs would react to a wide scale disaster, but they now outnumber police forces in many areas of the US. For a fun weekend read, try the DoD Directive 3025.12 Titled "Military Assistance for Civil Disturbances." (No, you can look it up if *you* are serious about reading it. Really. Otherwise, sleep well at night.) Organized gangs + disaster = much bigger and dangerous disaster.
WROL, there's nothing to stop normal citizens from burning out/hunting down these gangbangers like mad dogs. I've told a couple of scumbags the cops and Justice system was the greatest friend they had.
When TROL ends, a lot of criminals are going to just disappear. Good folks will take care of business.
Both good and bad people will be taking care of business....people will be forced by circumstances to choose sides....think Afghan warlords and tribal conflicts....or internecine fighting among squabling militias as is the case in Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq
Chell is right on this one, WROL will not be pretty and it won't be just good guys vs bad guys, it will be a bloody mess.
For those that didn't read the entire article, I will share the ending. The author wrote scenario of how a group of "the brass horde" could easily be taken out. Unbeknown to the Brass Horde the local had witnessed the entire thing from the warmth of the bedroom after being alerted by his growling dogs. Shouldering his gun he realized that confrontation was dangerous against eight heavily armed men and there was a good change he would die if shooting started. The local also realized that this was the first of many visits by the armed bandits who, made confident by their guns, would steal what they failed to store through proper preparation. So he….. started baking cookies. “Good morning, I have fresh cookies and hot coffee” shouted the local from his truck as he pulled into the Horde’s compound. “You all look like you could use a treat on this cold morning” he continued. The men leerily looked at each other assuming that the local man had not yet discovered the robbery and was just being a good neighbor. The local waved and yelled “God Bless You” as he drove away. Over their snacks and wicked strong coffee the Horde laughed at how easy a target this cookie baking fairy would be… Looking through the rifle scope from his vantage point in on the hill he saw no movement…the last one fell several hours ago. Later that evening the local man returned to the compound, collected the bodies and placed them neatly in the largest trailer. Gathering the stolen items plus the Hordes guns and abundant ammunition for barter he proceeded to pour gas in each of the remaining campers then burned everything to the ground. Cyanide in the coffee and cookies. A heavy snow that night covered over the remains and the evident “mass suicide” was not discovered until later that springs. It was chalked up to collapse related hysteria…no further investigation. How Would You Handle The Brass Horde? WARNING Intense Content! | Prophezine Poisoning the enemy? good or bad?
These scenarios are important to discuss , "with in ones own group " what one might do should not be discussed in an open forum . for several reasons . 1. the wrong people reading might use it against you . 2. the wrong people reading will use it against you . While it's fun to play the scenario game with all the speculation and criticism from the pros . I have done it as well , but it occurs tme that those who intend on raiding as their form of survival don't need more ammunition.
