The other side of things ain't necessarily right, or wrong.

I just point out that few non Islamic theists would accept the argument that questioning the contradictions in the Quran would be a bad thing, but would doing so mean that the Quran contradicts those who find contradictions in it?

It is a feature of most religious text based faiths that the faithful will perform Olympic level gymnastics to harmonise any apparent contradictions in their texts...in that sense, there is not a lot of difference between the Abrahamic faiths in how they attempt to braid their textual spaghetti into some appearance of coherency.
