I have to dance in a few short weeks. I think it’s really stupid and I’m not alone. I think this is something that should just go away. What do you say?
I think ballroom dancing it should be taught in grade school, starting in Kindergarten. I don't know how to dance and always thought to take lessons but I think there is more to it than simply body movements on a dance floor. A lot more to it. It teaches correct conduct within a society, discipline, social acceptance, it's an art, etc..... I'm short of time now but...I believe there is a lot more to it. However, getting up and wiggling to a beat isn't what I consider true dancing. It's more of a caveman stomp. Perhaps you should specify exactly what you mean by 'I have to dance.'
BTW this particular dance is with my daughter at her wedding. Neither of us wants to do it because it’s so stupid. It’s expected by everyone else. I’m going to block out everything and pretend I’m out in the wilderness. Lol.
Some traditions should be broken, if neither party wants to do it. BUT........ She's your little girl, and will always remember this day! Cowboy up and dance your heart out!
You and your daughter can learn a simple box step in a few minutes, then practice until it's smooth. Everybody will be happy and this will be a good memory for both of you to look back on. Grandkids will appreciate the photos/video as well.
It was, starting and ending in 6th grade. Then it was made available in 7th and 8th, but it was an after school activity. Some 'rents, including mine, sorta "encouraged" most of us to go.
you are making this too hard all you have to do is stand there and shuffle in rhythm to the music Cowboy up buttercup!
Stop being such a bah humbug. It is a precious moment between the two of you. Block everything out making this just you and your little girl. No longer are you the main man in her life. You will always be her Dad but it is the symbolic gesture of this being the last time you hold her before giving her to another. You will be creating a memory that you both will cherish.
Synchronizing your movements with some one else takes cooperation and doing your part, they doing theirs . Cerography makes things work especially if you intend to work together on something. It depends to on how deeply committed you are to that person or the task at hand . I was not raised to dance but I wish I had . something we miss in society older cultures knew and needed as a group, it bonded them together, especially if they knew the meaning of the dance . . Modern society is so self centered so self absorbed we don't maintain any rhyme or reason for the things we do except self serving. Some folk misinterpreted dancing as a sexual event ,which can be what you intend ,but from it's roots intended as story telling, much like the Hawaiian hula. Some I know dance as a form of relaxation and release doing it both in public and private ,and of course some to show off. How one dances says something about them ,and experience will reveal due to one's own skills how skilled the exhibitionist does. If you don't know how to dance ,take a lesson from the movie Hitch"
good grief.... In our family we sing and car dance. Maybe you should try car dancing and find your groove.
My groove became the grand canyon of klutz years ago. Me sits still while the others gyrate out of rythm.
