bump for @Brokor opinion on Discord and to see if @sec_monkey wants to share other options. I think a new monkey chat is a go, we just need an easy option but secure.
it will be semi-secure it is only as secure as the least secure operating system participating in the chat
Discord is not even remotely secure, so whatever you discuss is entirely in the hands of Discord and big government corporate marketing. But, it works really well (which is why it's so popular). If you're only chatting about the weather and stupid shit. One of these three would be ideal if you're thinking security: Three desktop tools for ultra-private encrypted chats But, none of them are 100% secure, I imagine nothing really is unless you're chatting over LAN or using a VPN and some serious software, which isn't free.
If I did have a suggestion, I would say CryptoCat is the best based on its ease of use and simplicity. As for security, it's about as good as free gets, but I wouldn't go talking about anything you wouldn't feel comfortable chatting about in a restaurant with a friend. Cryptocat
ohm... so is there a solution to that or enter at your own risk? I think most monkeys are quite secure with their computers. been there done that. But seriously, I will check out Cryptocat. @sec_monkey I will try monkey chat but I am not technical at all. I can tell you if the average person can figure it out. I am up for being a guinea pig.
w 10 = spyware plus plus plus plus there aint much we can do about that other than replace the operating system
Just keep in mind CryptoCat is only a chat, not a voice chat. Sorry, I should have said that before. If you do get it set up my username is brokor if you wanted to add me and chat.
I'm thinking Linux or Tails with the linux client on a USB stick. Easy to boot up and avoid using the Windows Virus OS and it's free.
Just a NOTE, here: CryptoCat is a Server Based System.... Just keep that in mind, and understand WHO runs the Server, and is it inside WHAT Country... and how friendly is that County with the USA...... It is NOT End to End Encrypted, but is encrypted Between You and the Server and the others and the Server.....
Here is the best security I can think of, between two people who are chatting: It worked great when I was a boy. No conversations were ever intercepted by a third party. Seriously, we want a high security software / application? Pay big bucks. And, definitely move from Windows 10, the best tattle-tale operating system.
Easily intercepted by using the vibration sensitive lasers used on windows. Using acoustic deadening material on the cans won't work either, since they can still pick up the string vibrations. You go this route and pretty soon all the other survival forums will know all our secrets. All of them.
