They have been advertising a New Drug on the Television for a while... I can't remember it's name, but I bet you can Google it... and I bet it is expensive.... I have similar issues from a Broken lower Leg about 30 years ago, where I lost all the Tactile Feeling in my Right Leg, and Foot. Now I am slowly loosing sensory input on my left Leg and Foot... It hampers me going down stairs, but I just take it one step at a time, and do fine...

what type? what is the cause?

treating the underlying condition will usually offer some relief

P.Neuropathy, cause unknown. Have had tests upon tests, started in right foot then both feet,up my legs now all over body. Stomach also effected, burning sensation inside out is severe and chronic. Sensitive to heat and cold. On or been on neurotin 3200mgd (on),antiperspirants of all kinds,OxyContin (off) methodone(off) morphine(off) norco30-300(on),spinal stimulater did not work,a lot of other meds I don’t remember. Morphine worked the best and may have to get back on it. It has to be the worst pain imaginable. It sometimes feels like a hornet sting,my big toes sometimes feel like I stuck a nail or a locust thorn in them ,electric shocks, the whole nine yards.

they typically prescribe tricyclic antidepressants (such as nortriptyline or amitriptyline), the serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) medication duloxetine, and antiepileptic therapies such as gabapentin, pregabalin, or sodium valproate.

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) therapy may be effective and safe in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

TENS might also be effective even if it is not diabetic peripheral neuropathy, YMMV

have ya been thoroughly tested for vitamin deficiency, immune system issues, celiac disease, .. .. besides other more obvious causes?

I’ve been tested for everything except MS,I believed my grandfather had the same thing,he used Watkins rub and a snuff glass full of Early Times before bed, he almost lost a lower leg to gangrene . Slept in a big feather bed because of it.

Not sure if its legal in your A.O. but Marijuana Oils work amazingly well with out all the undesired side effects! Try a strong blend of C.B.D. with a high concentration of T.H.C in the mix, and then dose to the level that relives the pain and discomfort! It will NOT help with the loss of sensory functions, but should really help the pain!

They diagnosed my MS in 1977, primarily with a spinal tap. Was treated for it for years then went into remission for years. I never had pain symptoms I'd usually go blind in one eye at a time or have numb spots like one leg, one arm, or shoulder. The doc would put me on prednisone for about two weeks and I'd be back to normal. I haven't had any symptoms since about 2008.

Now my wife is a different story. She was diagnosed with fibro myalgia in 02, lots of pain with that. Then in 2013 they hit her with MS. Lots more extensive nerve tests, some of which you have probably already gone through. We spent three weeks at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Fl. in 2007 and they couldn't find the problem. We found a neurologist that thinks outside the box and he found the problem. I think that she has been hooked up to just about every nerve testing machine there is. She still has to go in for a brain MRI about every six months.

I've been on gabapentin for many years for P. neuropathy from type 2 diabetes. Doc at the VA put me on a statin drug for high cholesterol - neuropathy got so bad with in only a few weeks, I couldn't sleep, feet hurt so bad. I quit the statin and within a few days, most of the pain was gone. I told them at the start I had tried their statin drugs before and they caused me to much pain, so this time I did my own research and found that neuropathy is one of the side effects of taking statin drugs, especial the one the VA usually prescribes. So I wrote up all the side effects I was experiencing on the drug and took the letter into them - told them there had to be some life style changes to try.

They listened to me and put me in a aqua therapy class, that didn't take away the neuropathy, but it did help me lower my sugar, and the pain is mostly gone now too. They also have me in a Tai Chi class, supposed to help with the pain from arthritis. Not to sure about that, but it might help with neuropathy as well.

CBD oil is also helpful, if you can find it locally where you live. It does help me somewhat, but I get the kind that has no THC in it, or so little you would not be testing positive for pot and you would not be getting high from it. I found you can get it online, however, I found a couple local places I can buy it. If you try that, go for the 500mg strength, as I saw little to no effect from the 250mg stuff. Research it online, there are several other things CBD oil is supposed to help, including type 2 diabetes. Yes, I have had to decrease my diabetes medication since I started taking CBD oil on a regular basis.

    I take vitamin D
Lyrica Narco and an inflammatory drug for mine
    Also testosterone every so often
This combination allows me to at least get around some
My neuropathy is due to an accident in a company boat almost 2 year's ago
I have good days and bad days
Very seldom drink alcohol these days
I find a snort of Nyquil at night helps me sleep.

What are you eating? There's more serotonin available from your own (healthy) 'gut biome' than there is in equal doses of: Prozac, Paxil, and Zoloft combined. Have you read—I mean really read—SurvivalMonkey's 'Apple Cider Vinegar' thread?

A pain management doctor at the local VA had my B vitamin tested, he said that sometimes, as we age, even though we might be taking B complex vitamins, our body may not be absorbing them and a deficiency of B - not sure which - could also cause us to have pain in joints and yes neuropathy. He said he'd have some extra strength sent to me if I needed it, so far, he hasn't sent any.

I took b12 shots every two weeks for two years ,helped very little. I just called my neurologist and I won’t be able to see him until aug,21 unless a opening comes up. I see family doctor the 10 of next month maybe he will do something,I hope. I tried drinking bourbon but it seems to make it worst, makes my feet turn red and burn hotter.
Thanks you all for your help.

I'm going to throw this in the mix , and may not mean spit to ya , might even be a stupid comment. A buddy of mine was in a lot of pain a while back , doctors couldn't find the problem. He did some research , and for the hell of it , he tried yoga. A couple weeks later. , he was all better. May not mean nothing , but if all else has failed , it can't hurt. Good luck , and I really hope you're able to find some relief somehow.

Am sorry to read of your plight. I do not feel your pain, but do sympathise with what you're are experiencing. My father experienced Peripheral Neuropathy for some years towards the end of his life. My mother, abetted by a sister of mine (it was subsequently discovered), interfered with his medication (without his knowledge or consent) such that he experienced much unnecessary pain and discomfort as he proceeded towards the end of his life.

I have no recommendations for you, other than to avoid faith healers and snake oil hucksters who will leave you no better off, but with your wallet efficiently vacuumed out for your troubles.

I recommend to you, reading 'Man's Search For Meaning' by Viktor Frankel, information about which is available in the Resources section of Survival Monkey. Book Man's Search For Meaning - Viktor Frankl
https://archive.org/download/MansSe...eaningpsychologyPsychotherapyPhilosophy-o.pdf The book will not show you how you can relieve your symptomatic pain, but it may help in dealing with the existential aspects of living through dire circumstances over which you have very little influence to change, other than how you process and think about it. The ideas discussed in the book are applicable to those with a religious/spiritual world view, as well as to those who hold to a humanist / secular world view.

Here are a few things that may or may not be helpful, but for certain won't hurt:
    • Eat nothing that contains a preservative, even if it's an ingredient in something else you make. Preservative is another word for poison, and nephropathy is frequently caused by dying nerve cells such as the nephropathy experienced by diabetics. Fewer poisons in your diet could help to prevent or lessen your existing symptoms
    • Eat no prepared or processed foods. Make everything that goes in your mouth out of simple basic ingredients. Some exceptions may be certain organic breads in the health food section such as "Dave's Killer Bread" and others. Read the label then read it again. If you don't understand an ingredient it's likely bad for you.
    • There are better carb free options for breads you can make yourself quite inexpensively - there is a thread on them in "The green patch" under recipes.
    • Those ingredients should not contain any bio-engineered foods. These foods many times contain pesticides (poisons) that they create themselves or other irritants to your system.
    • Stick to "organic" ingredients as much as possible.
    • Ditch refined sugars, corn syrups, etc., and use smaller amounts of natural sweeteners. We were not designed to eat candied foods.
    • Increase the fiber in your diet. Fiber not only helps your digestion it helps to prevent irritants from entering your bloodstream.
    • Increase the blood flow as much as you can in your body and especially in the extremities where you experience the pain. All your organs need the proper blood flow to function correctly, and your nervous system needs this as well. You don't need to pump iron, just do what you need to do to flex all your muscles and get them to assist your heart by pushing blood everywhere in your body.
