Found out yesterday that Yeti is pulling its support from the NRA. General opinion is to boycott Yeti. As good as they are who would want to pay $400 for an icechest! Anyone else here about this?
No more yeti's for me. O course the only one I got is a coffee mug that was a Xmas present. Was thinking of getting a small one to keep drinks and stuff in for work. Don't think I'll be at one of theirs now.
Here is some fall out from another Cooler Company on DICK"s no sell notice. OD Green Orca USA Made 26 Qt Cooler
I was looking at coolers on the net a few weeks ago. Found one that might match up , it's called the " Cold Bastard ".
I wrote to Yeti and expressed my feelings, which, shall we say were not positive. This is their reply We're writing in response to your recent email inquiry. A few weeks ago, YETI notified the NRA Foundation, as well as a number of other organizations, that we were eliminating a group of outdated discounting programs. When we notified the NRA Foundation and the other organizations of this change, YETI explained that we were offering them an alternative customization program broadly available to consumers and organizations, including the NRA Foundation. These facts directly contradict the inaccurate statement the NRA-ILA distributed on April 20. Further, the NRA-ILA stated in that same public communication that "[YETI has] declined to continue helping America's young people enjoy outdoor recreational activities." Nothing is further from the truth. YETI was founded more than 10 years ago with a passion for the outdoors, and over the course of our history we have actively and enthusiastically supported hunters, anglers and the broader outdoor community. We have been devoted to and will continue to directly support causes tied to our passion for the outdoors, including by working with many organizations that promote conservation and management of wildlife resources and habitat restoration. From our website to our film footage and from our social media posts to our ambassadors, YETI has always prominently featured hunters pursuing their passions. Moreover, YETI is unwavering in our belief in and commitment to the Constitution of the United States and its Second Amendment. Thanks for reaching out to YETI.
Interesting. So either they are lying, or someone at the NRA got butt hurt and is basically starting a smear campaign. Things that make you go hmmmm.
It could be the folks at NRA understood the notice from Yeti as another corporate decision to go the PC anti-gun route, and distance themselves from the largest gun rights organization in the USA. That would be understandable considering that other U.S. corporations ranging from airlines to banks have already made such isolating moves. Then again, the statement made by Yeti in response to an email by an unhappy customer (Apache 235) sure sounds like some serious "crawfishing" as they attempt to walk back the negative publicity that continues to grow. If Yeti is serious about walking back some "misunderstandings," then they need to make such a statement in a widespread public release AND announce a special price reduction for their products in the spirit of good will. Yeti has seen its market niche shrink mostly due to more moderately priced, equal capability competition (such as R-Tic). This negative publicity with the anti-NRA smell only drives their marketability further into the dung heap. They better move fast, because the bleeding hasn't stopped, and Blood Clot products won't help.
If my choices are believing an attorney for the NRA or an ad man for Yeti who stands to lose a lot of revenue, I am going with the lawyer.
Anyway, I sent the Yeti statement to Texas State Rifle. Should be an interesting 3 some statement as someone tries to balance the books.
They have managed to crap in their own bed, and it'll be a real chore to wash the sheets. Appear to be their own worst enemy. The negative publicity will follow them like faithful dogs. The response Apache got is hardly more than a thumb in the dike. Price has been the stumbling block for them all along. I would guess that the price is the reason they had such an ad campaign. I also think that the NRA was not very graceful with their response and premature slamming. Chris Cox is not a good guy, is made in the same mold as one of those yapping lefties, just hangs out on the right side of the aisle.
Reply from Texas agtripp@aol.com <agtripp@aol.com> Apr 23 at 8:34 PM Yep. But no one at NRA received notice of any new program. Only cancelled orders. Lots of cancelled orders.
