I somewhere in a control room some really is laughing and it comes through the device. I know that sounds very tin-foil hat. People are letting those devices control their homes and schedule their lives. Super creepy.

    Our homes are already bugged.
    Phones, smart TVs, computers.
You would have to adhere to US DoD guide lines for top secret access to avoid being "bugged".
Their big one, no cell phones.
Secure and unsecured interfaces need to be separated by at leat 1m and a bunch of other stuff. I could count the number of times I used secure networks probably on one hand. It wasn't my thing.

I work in technology. It pays me quite well thank you to keep up with and teach other high level techies the innards of things such as amazon web services, of ms azure. But - I don't trust it as far as I can throw a fit!. And all the latest rage gadgets: Alexa, wifi enabled anything, IOT. Not in my house. I own my router and wifi device. I allow exactly three IPs to be handed out, and I use static addressing so I can specify what gets what. I control my own internal DNS as well. Can I get hacked? Of course. But I do what I can.
F that cr@p. Do NOT trust it!

Humph. Lancer, I'm with you, limiting things that can go wrong. One thing about olde phartes like me is that any toy more advanced than a baseball glove is against the laws of nature and not to be trusted.

It's in my desk drawer. Pickett metallic 10 inch log log duplex, new in 70. My father's Deitzgen is still in service with my sister. Leftover from the 30s. You can still buy them, but take MONEY.

Why would ANYONE put an OPEN Microphone, connected to the Internet In their House? Oh, I get it... They are to lazy to even tap the keypad on their iPad, in Google, or Bing, to find S**T out....
