f350 .. troubles / again ....

    powerstroke 6.0 problems

    looking back ... and going through all the BS and snake oils ... i added a post on to the like above ...
    i will not boast or brag on this product till i am 100% sure it has cured my problems ...
    in the mean time ... the truck is running better ... ,,,
    when i added the ar9100 to the oil it started having bigger issues than before ...
    instead of one misfire that worked itself out in 10-20 min of idle ... i had multiple misfires ...then added the AR6400D fuels system cleaner ... things seemed the same .. for 10 miles or so ... today .. i could not tell if i was misfiring ,, or if it was the road ... after 25+ miles with this snake oil added to the fuel ....
    right now it looks very positive ... after 2 attempts of using hotshot secrets to no avail ...
    will keep you updated .... and for the 6.0 owners ... get the blue spring kit installed

    It's a 6.0. There is only one solution.

    Trade it in, even at a loss and be rid of it for good! Sorry, your your problems! The older 7.3 D.I. were a much better set up!

    Quit wasting money on snake oil.

    No additive will repair a mechanical or electrical fault...wait, that's right, you didn't have it properly diagnosed...so you still don't know what is really going on.

    The 6.0 ... Love it or Leave it. About the only thing I haven't done is ARP head bolts, done all the Banks air, exhaust, tuner, working on the EGR delete, it runs like a beast on steroids, the tuner is what makes it run, you can have about zero seconds of spool up time leaving a light, or stop sign, which is great for not getting hit by oncoming traffic.
    And yes I add Cetane to the fuel, but that is better than the piss that my wife now has to add to a special tank on her new F350.
    Oh this is the second 6.0 that I have owned, I sued Ford to take the first one back.

    Be prepared to put a lot of money into it or sell it.
    It's never going to run right on 100% oe parts and programming.

    Just don't ever get reman'd injectors from Pensacola Diesel...6.0 or 7.3.... About a 25% fail rate on install.

    @azrancher - just tig a couple freeze plugs in the inlet and outlet of the egr cooler and use a hole saw to cut out the scoop on the passenger side down pipe...cheaper (and better) than many delete kits. :)

    At this point you need to decide: ether keep it and fix it right, or sell/Trade.
    Diesel Cast West is where I go for most all diesel parts, from Small to frickin YUGE! Beyond that Portland Turbo and St. Helens turbo for upgrades like injectors and turbo, or turbo rebuilding! Diesel Cast has many options for Injectors, so you can really get down and dirty with performance enhancements or fuel economy, or any combo in btween.
    I don' have a 6.0, but most folks I know that have them are having all sorts of trouble with them, and most require modifications to get them to run and to last. Sucks, but if you want to keep that truck, your going to have to do some work.
    If it makes you feel any better, the 2017/18 Dodge Cummins is having many issues, and several folks I know with them have had to Lemon Law them, Dodge hasnt figured out fixes!

    I'm happy with mine, but I've done the homework to actually understand and not just guess and throw parts at it. If a hobby is not what you're after, then yes, get something else. At least several posts here indicate somebody has not done that but wants you to think they know what they're talking about.

    It's not available here, but there are good forums for that.

    as i am trying to navigate several areas of work .. contracts .. and meet the bills i am trying to snake oils before considering a loan to fix the truck .... i know you are not wearing my boots right now ... i walked away from a contract ... the other one gave me a raise ... (the one i hoped would sign me on did not) i got the truck on a deal for $5000 and it only had 174k on it ... been driving ot for 6.5 years .. the first 7 months were free as it was a company truck ..other than the EGR valve sticking open this is the first major trouble i have had with it ... love them or hate them .. the 6.0 has been ok to me since i been driving it ... at least it is not a 6.4 ...when those go .. it is a new motor .. .. and for financial reasons i cannot go to a shop every time the truck farts !!!
    with the loss of contracts .. i have taken a FT job ... for half the pay ..
    the V.A. has been trying to cut my wifes disability since the surgery ... she was injured during desert storm ... ..

    i need to make due till i can get things back under control ... i have not mentioned these troubles before .. but since some like to bash .. and express their ops .. well now you know .. i am stuck .. and really stuck till i can get a cash flow rolling again .. and when the VA gets off their @ss and pays the mrs for all the flipping money they took away .. then i can do something to get a gas engine truck ...

    or something different .... i just asked for help and advice ... while i am faced with losing everything
    was not looking for sarcasm .. and or bashing of a motor ... .. ...
    was just asking for advice / just to keep things here at home going ...
    her car is in need of repair .. worse than the truck ....
    I AM LOSING THE BATTLE ... do not know how much longer i can hold on ... almost 3 years of the S@IT over her VA ..

    my thoughts were to delete the prior comment ... but keeping in mind ... we do not know each others situations ... and other things ... and i will again say i did not mean to go on a tirade ,,,

    as i was trying the hotshot secrets to no avail .. send them fuel and oil samples .. they blamed canadian fracking and and abundance of moisture in the fuel for the problems and recommended that i do a second or 3rd dose in the crank case ...
    as i stumbled across arch oil and powerstrokehelp.com and decided to give the snake oil a shot ...
    the truck ran worse at first .... seemed to run worse and slowly smooth out some with the ar9100 friction modifier ...
    and seemed not to smooth out more after i added the ar6400D ... over the past week things seemed to change ...
    as for the first time in a few weeks .. was able to get it up on the highway from a cold start .. (4 min) then took off driving ... hit the I275 loop for a bit .. and ran up u.s. 52 .... did not notice a missfire one .. and when it seemed i felt a buck or something in the engine .. i backed off .. or dropped to neutral ... nothing but road ...

    got the truck home and let it idle in the drive for 10 min ... sounds great ... no rough idle ... no smoking ... seems to run as she was before the issues .... ...
    now as stated .. i will not back the snake oil 100% and i would sing it praises .. if it worked ... ...

    keep in mind their promise (arch oil) was 100 miles (on the website and bottle) and i am over 600 miles ...
    till things smoothed out and seems to be running correctly ..
    but ... the cold start issue remains ... with extended cranks unless the truck is plugged in ...
    or the temp is above 40F ....
    i might have a glow plug or 2 failed ... but snake oils cannot fix that issue ...

    again .. sorry for the tirade in the last post ... as stated i do not know your positions and you do not know mine ... as i am in a rock and a hard place right now ... very hard to get things fixed or replaced ...

    Rants are acceptable, for us Monkeys, here on the Site... We put up with a certain DownUnder Monkey all the time... We ALL have Bad Days, and Big Issues, and we ALL need to blow off steam on occasion.. Do NOT give it a second thought...
