"weathered snake vomit" Harsh man.... harsh! I will concede that the citori is a very nice shotgun, especially for clays. And thank you Tango, she is my favorite.
I have owned both a Red Label and a Citori and I must say that I do prefer the Browning. The RL is a fine shotgun, but the Citori just comes up better and seems more balanced to me. My Citori is a 16 gauge and I love it, however my favorite shotgun is an old Browning Auto-5 Sweet Sixteen. I don't know why, but I shoot this finely crafted Belgian scattergun better than any other I have ever owned. David
Ah yes, what more could you want. I do have to say that my wife's Weatherby is nice, but for general utility, the red label can't be beat. I don't miss with the red label, it is a fine shooting piece of snake vomit!
Well, Here's my modified 590A1. I replaced the stock buttstock with a Cavalry Arms adapter, and added a Vltor collapsible stock. I had to remove the rear sights to put the adapter on, so now I'm looking into a replacement sight system for it. <img src="http://www.rmcmullen.org/images/590a1.jpg"> I took it to work yesterday for a function test, and all is well
I favor the venerable Remington 870. I carried one for Security Alerts on shipboard, and used my 16 ga. for squirrel hunting. Got the 12 ga. Express modified for Homeland Defense duty, and use Dad's 12 ga. Wingmaster for ducks. I have a few other shotguns, but the 870's are my favorites. I have only one shotgun, but I do like it. It's nothing fancy, just a 12g Mossburg 500. Very reliable and easy to use. Applicable for home defense, a fun afternoon shooting clay pigeons, hunting small game, and - loaded with 00 - emergency bear repellent. It kicked a bit much for me, so we added a recoil pad that slips over the butt end. Now it's quite comfortable for me to shoot.
If it says GREBSSOM, you have the wrong end to your shoulder again. Remember, the big end goes to your shoulder.
If you have an 870 made in the last several years, the ones with the quick release mag tube plug-like a bayonet light bulb or BNC connector-the lugs will make the spring hang up.
That is probably OK, the cap will do to retain the original spring. (Just don't forget when you de-barrel for cleaning.)
