Wonderful! Quite of few tossed around my thoughts this morning, like the 'mountain of Bison skulls' and the 'Michigan loggers in 1890.' Wonderful! Thanks!
I thought about those 2 horses pulling the skid of those logs. It must have been thousands and thousands of lbs.
Well , you just made everything much easier. I had to go back and look, and sure enough , ice and snow.
The one that struck me most was of Lewis Powell. History has a way of repeating itself. Did you ever read John Wilkes Booth's final letter?
Actually, no, not until now. Frankly, I never knew he left a 'last' letter. It does appear to be quite deranged...not sure, I shall read it tomorrow as perhaps it is I, in my inebriated state, but he is indeed well educated and writes well - although - lengthily, verbose...it's friggin awful to be honest. Now, to history repeating itself...to what do you refer?
I do not find it deranged at all but rather a deeply emotional statement from a man that had loved his country and saw it torn apart, brother upon brother but instead of healing, an offered olive branch, the realities of the "Reconstructions " Era were shameful and not the gilded version handed us throughout history, written by the victors. If you can't see the parallels between than and now then there is no point in trying to explain it to you. You won't get it.
