Anyone Think Criminals Aren't Evacuating Florida to Rob or is that Movie Fiction?

In typical Navy fashion I did my best to place all the Woman & Children into the lifeboats first, but the Captain goes down with his Ship.

 

Roofing sucks. I have only done 2 and I think it shortened my life expectancy by at least 2 or 3 years.

 

My closest neighbor and I did some yard cleanup today, to prevent losing things in the wind, once it gets up here.
Making sure my place is secure.
But, still hunkering in place at my late parent's concrete block home.
The storm track, in latest adjustment, is moved a bit further west. So, we are in the western edge of it. But, wind speed is down to Cat Four, and will lose power as it moves up the state. It's a long way, and the 'cane will have no fuel to draw from. I expect no more than Cat Three by the time it gets to us here in the north end.

 

Hollow concrete blocks are not really that tough.

 

Quonset hut sounds like good idea for home in that area, not pretty but designed to stand up to the severe weather .

 

LOL!!! I heard on the Weather Channel last night that virtually everyone that attempted to evacuate in a Tesla was now stranded by the road. To bad they won't run on their good looks!

Had friends of mine ride the storm out. His wife, son and daughter-in-law went to Orlando ( I think they are on the way home now), but he, being a reserve PO, opted to stay behind and help with the first responders. He was and still is on Marco Island, FL. Right where the eye made landfall. I know he's alright, and that their home has minimal damage, but the damage to the island is pretty significant.
Back on topic, there was a news crew filming looters stealing from a shoe store. Last I heard, many, if not all the looters were caught. Those looters were not the brightest bunch. "Hey, there's a news crew, we can get on national TV if we loot this store!"

As with any event like this, the looters are there to "cash in", takes a special kind of scum, but then again, they are all around these days.

 

From Professional experience the thieves stay behind as it is there nature to be outside of normal behavior. They do not keep up on the news, generally defy or ignore authority, and are opportunists. Most are very spontaneous in their actions with little or no forethought or thoughts of consequences, this is why they die in overdose and accident at a higher rate than normal people.

So in the end they stay because it is their nature to be irresponsible, and then they act and steal cause they can.

 

I don' know , they seem to keep up with riot news.

 

They text each other when its time to steal.
As an aside a friend arrested an old doper on a probation warrant. The suspect told him, well once that is taken care of I can get my SSI, His retirement plan was just to get his warrant cleared.
