An interesting, but pretty basic, article I found today: If a nuclear bomb explodes, these are the emergency supplies you should have prepared or grab on the run
If a nuclear bomb explodes near you, you will see a brief flash of very bright white light through the center of your forehead.
The only thing "Strategic" around here, is a bunch of Brown Bears, that don't care about the Little Fat kid with the Bad Haircut.... I have No Fear, of a Nuke...
Me, I'm gonna sit on the porch and watch the show, no point in getting all worked up over something like that in my AO, If it hits, and I live through the first 10 seconds, then maybe I might go grab a second cold one and think how lucky I am to be involved in yet another shooting war! Yea, Sarcasm!
yep. i'll be grabbin a couple cold ones and possibly throw in a big wad of redman no but really i'll prob go down to the high school with my family, guns, beer and chew and go down into the shelter there. yes, the high school i went to has a bomb shelter under it.
I think it's a case of one flash, and yer ash! Well away from the blast zone, just hope you've got enough mass between yourself and the nuclear fallout.....oh, and a Kearny air pump.
We'll be retreating to the concrete bunker with the lead lined walls-because not only is that where the still is kept it keeps the beer and soda at a constant temp..
I don't think there is much one can do. Should you not be blinded by the flash and you survive the heat/explosion you're probably going to be a walking dead due to radiation so...
Which way do the prevailing winds blow from Elmendorf? Also, how far are you from Juneau? What if North Korea's aim is off a little?
600 Miles from Los Anchorage.... Same distance from Seattle.... Would the Little Fat Kid risk turning his country into a Glass Parking Lot over taking out Los Anchorage, and JBER? I think not.... and I have 3500' Mountains on three sides of the Fjord I live in that is only 1.5 miles wide. (North, East, West) Prevailing winds blow down across Canada, to the east side of the Rockies.... Iota's called the "Polar Vortex".... formally known as the "Siberian Express"
Modern nuclear bombs don't use long lasting radiation. Most modern nukes use hydrogen which only lasts a month or two. Why would you ruin the countryside that you plan to conquer by poisoning yourself? “The Tsar Bomba hydrogen bomb is the largest-ever nuclear device to have been detonated. The power of the explosion exceeded the combined power of all explosives used by all countries during WWII. The explosive energy released exceeded 3,800 times the Fat Man bomb dropped on Nagasaki.” Thermonuclear bombs work by using the energy of a fission bomb to compress and heat fusion fuel. ... The ensuing fusion reaction creates enormous numbers of high-speed neutrons, which can then induce fission in materials not normally prone to it, such as depleted uranium. Hydrogen Bomb vs. Atomic Bomb: What's the Difference?
Hmmm...I'd like to see a 'Little Boy' Little Boy and Fat Man, take out 'Fat Boy'....from a respectable distance.....a YouTube clip of that event would work for me.
