well it is a good story with strong tendencies toward libertarian philosophy...

but Heinlein seemed to have leaned that way...

another good author for similar leaning stuff would be L. Neil Smith... his "Pallas" was pretty good...

Lets do Starship Troops first. Then move on. I hope to read this week early then post a discussion thread. Please have patience with me, this is my first attempt at a on-line book club so I am learning as I go. All I do know is that I love discussing books and we have members here that have great minds and outlooks on things so I really look forward to reading different view points on a book.

 

Got it down loaded and will start the reading.

 

Just reread Starship Troopers again last week. I just wish the movie was closer to the book or even a vague resemblance to the book not the junk they put out.

 

Military SciFi by the Dean of SciFi and politics mixed. Good choice. Waiting for the GO! signal...

 

I think the first time I read Starship Troopers was when I was 12 or 14...
Wasn't too much on it then if I remember right...
Wasn't old enough to appreciate Heinlein...

But I also wondered if the book The Help would be a good one. The movie was pretty good and would enable people to jon in who just want to watch the movie and do not have time to read. .

 

I have been wanting to get contact and give it a read... However it is competing with books on The Thompson M1A1 and Bench Rest Actions and Triggers.. Decision....

I think that Lucifer's Hammer is pretty relevant to this group, and we also have a resident author in DKR whose's works are also applicable.

Oh, yes, Contact mentioned above - I'd forgotten about that one!

 

We have a couple authors on here, @DarkLight @sarawolf and @UncleMorgan to name a few. I have always wanted to get them all together and have a Q & A because writing a book, ideas, research etc is interesting to me.

Contact seems like a good book, never read it but many speak highly of it.

Is this a story or a manual? It is $9 on kindle which is steep and may not be available at the library.
