Are combat sidearms worth it?

And we are not in the choke point. We look down on it . And we flank it . The more they come forward the more damage they will incur. I have a primary battle rifle . I have two different types of primary battle rifles. I have a secondary sidearm. I have resupply right behind me at all times. Anyone attacking us wont. And if they do? They will be hit from behind and relieved of it. Always be nice to get more ammo. Cut supply lines like the Russians did Germany in ww2. Suck them in , cut them off and exterminate.

So while we are diametrically opposed on the Fight or Flight Philosophy, probably not exactly eye to eye on what is or how many primary battle rifles we carry, it appears safe to say that we are in complete agreement that a Secondary Combat Sidearm is a requirement. And therefore worth it?

So I guess the next general step would be what caliber of Combat Sidearm do Y'all feel is worth carrying?

I will unashamedly admit that my personal Combat preference is .45 ACP.

Would you care to be a bit more specific as to how many participants this may be directed at? LOL.

    I like .357 Mag, .45 LC, and .45ACP for my daily carry, though I have a a few .38 I carry sometimes.

Well it takes at least two ta two step..:)

As far as calibres go, 80% of the time I carry a 1911 or Sig P220 in .45ACP. 15% of the time it's a BHP in 9mm and the remainder it's a .380. If I was headed into a combat type situation, or PSHTF it would be .45ACP every time even though I dearly love my HP's. I also carry a 5 shot revolver in .22 mag in my front pocket and would continue to do so.

? Are wheel-guns still considered Combat Sidearms?
I was under the impression that revolvers where limited to "Wilderness" survival since they couldn't compete with a Mag change in real time. Even a speed loader can't bring a wheel-gun to be as efficient as the Mag feed semi-auto. Mite be more than Just My Humble Opinion. JMHO.

Faster and more accurate with them. Never found an auto I could stick with (for several reasons). And this ain't the military. The sidearm I have on during a fight IS my combat sidearm. Haha.

I was just wondering what Civil Force (even Forrest Ranger's) still issues wheel-guns?
Now I've already mentioned that in the Wilderness (ie against critters without projectile weapons) the revolver is still "KING" in my book. But why would you purposely head into Combat with such a primitive sidearm?

As far as 95% of shooters are concerned I agree with you.
However when I was competing every week I shot against two guys that used wheel guns. Both were excellent shooters and could reload every bit as fast as the majority of the others using autos. No BS, I've seen it and been beat by them too many times. One of them was my shooting partner and could actually reload his 686 and be on target faster than he could with his 1911. They were the exception, but it can be done in some cases.

Noticeably faster and more accurate with them. Much more comfortable with them, and I have a lot of trouble getting an auto to do what I want. Fixed sight DA only autos suck for shooting pests at random ranges, and I usually have to dial in the sights to hit (normal fixed sights shoot pretty consistently a foot high and about that to the right, not sure why)...wonder 9's don't fit that bill well.

Only in competitions originally designed for and held to the limitations of wheel-guns. In Combat those 13 .45 ACP rounds out of my Glock without even a reload, well it ain't even a competition. Toss in a couple of Mag reloads, and they ran out of speed loaders.MO.

A double stack is hard to beat, but you can never miss fast enough to catch up.

As with my 9MM.. 17+1 and one spare mag. I'd rather have that than having to mess with a speed loader.

Even if it was that bad, I could miss more than twice as often and end up tied. LOL
Only one winner, ties all go to the cemetery!

Was that singular spare Mag loaded with sub-sonic or sonic rounds, SIR.

Could I just interject a pistol competition note?
    5 chickens at 25 yards.
    5 pigs at 50 yards.
    5 turkeys at 75 yards.
    5 rams at 100 yards.
The Hunters Pistol Course is two stages (ie 40 rounds & 40 targets)
It appears that you are a few rounds short of competing?
