But when i do it's usually time for Ramada.

In case you are new to this its pretty much the Islamic version of the purge l, or at it has been in recent years.

 

The Ramadan celebration has started in earnest with the traditional massacre of Christians... maybe later on they will continue celebrating by throwing homosexuals off the tops of buildings or stoning those shameless hussies who dare to show part of their faces.

I don't always post in the religion forum either, but it usually is to comment on Christians bleating about how badly they are being oppressed in a nation where they enjoy a significant amount of privilege over other faiths, and over people of no religious affiliation. Of course the annual war against Christmas just won't be the same without Bill O'Riley at the Helm of Fox religious propaganda, so that's something I suppose.

Yes, Ramadan is upon us; which, where I live, has the slight advantage of extended trading hours in some Muslim businesses after dusk: thats if one is into Arabian cuisine.

Yes... I guess here in SM land, Ramadan's greatest gift to religion is to give the non- Muslim religious tribes a sense of superiority and self importance, that at least they, aren't as bad as the Muslims.

Unrelated but 54% of Arabs living in the US are Christian and the majority of them are Catholic found it to be a weird but true fact

 

I guess, to some extent, aspects of post #3 may be a distraction to devotees of one religion bashing the beliefs of the devotees of another religion (and their religion itself)...far be it for me to interfere with inter sectarian religion bashing....

I agree that Islam has many pernicious beliefs, customs, traditions and practices....that are harmful to humanity, but it has to be said, that Judaism, and Christianity have many analogues of the same kind of beliefs that are also harmful...just that at present, Christians and Jews are much less aggressive in prosecuting them than they had in past history.

Sorry Chelloveck, when you speak "of privilege over other faiths" you obviously forgot about the jews, the half brothers of the moslems.

No...No...No... You've got the genealogy wrong. Judaism is the parent religion of Islam, of which Christianity, is the elder half sibling (of Islam)....but as everyone is told (ad nauseam), America is a "Christian Nation", not a Jewish nation, although admittedly, occasionally, a limited acknowledgement of Jews is made, when the term "Judeo-Christian" is sometimes trotted out.

Yes, some believe that the fasting makes Muslims irritable but that could be a biased statement. We joke much about the religion of peace, myself included but I always remind myself that Cat Stevens became a Muslim. I do not believe that this man, who sang these amazing words, one of the most artists ever, is plotting to wipe all non-believers off the earth.

PS- before anyone starts bashing about Cat Stevens funding terrorism and being on the no fly list. I know all that. I thought he was a terrorist for a while but I have learned to keep questioning. We need to question why people convert, what was their first motive and go from there.
