Some see a deadly, dry desert full of hostile plants.

    Others see dinner!

Hard for some to believe, but time spent in the garden is money in your pocket.

Except for pumpkins. The damn things will try to take over your garden....this last summer, I had runners over 15 ft long.

Nope, this year - no pumpkins - just green beans and snow peas.

Landscaping in Phoenix... You got any neighbors with date palms? Lots of good free food here. Ask if you can harvest these kinds of dates. Dried, they make great food, a snack, or addition to other dishes.

The same goes for apricot trees used for 'ornamental' or landscaping. More good food.

Still have about 2 feet of snow that has to melt......

    Spring can't come soon enough.

The sun comes out, but it's going to be some time before the dirt comes out.....this is the view from my front yard. Sigh.

So long as I believe and rejoice in Christ even more boldly than my sinnin', I'm good to go with the murder rape and pillage??? I never knew protestant theology made such marvelous sense. o_O

That is such an amazing picture. The amount of food on there is staggering. And most people would complain about the mess the dates made once they fell. I have heard people complain about apples trees and the mess they make all over the lawn.

You really need to get to the property owner early for permission to get netting over the dates before the birds ruin them.

My grandfather had one apricot and one plum tree in his back yard. Always went over to cover them with anti-bird netting. After haverst we had more jam and jelly than our family of 9 could eat in a year - even with the kids PB&J nearly everyday X 7 kiddos. The plums, jan, jelly and prunes were traded for all kinds of stuff, to include eggs.

We had our own chickens until the SOB behind us complain of the noise from the roosters.

There is so much food that goes to waste - just from urban landscaping, not to mention individuals with 'ornamental' trees. If you think about it too much, it'll drive ya nutz

That's not what that means at all and you are too smart not to know it - was this part of your interview for CNN?

Being as I have no belief in Christ, nor do I rejoice in him, I'm obliged to be a lawful, moral human being...sin, being a theological means of mind / behaviour control: I have no need for it. Ethical humanism offers a reasonable moral compass to help me guide my relationships with my fellow humans.

Who takes all that much notice of a dead anti-semitic theologian these days anyway....particularly one prone to hyperbolic homilies.
