Brass anything are junk. A showpiece - made to be engraved and given as a retirement piece or paperweight.

Most are made in India, these kind of outlets also sell compasses (junk) - theodolites (real junk) dumpy or surveyor levels - (absolute junk)

A used, (salvage) Russian surplus nautical sextant in a box, that works, will run about $200 - or more.

A new Davis 25 plastic sextant is about $300 depending on outlet.

Nothing worth having will go for under 200 bucks - you get what you pay for.....

If you live near the coast, checking estate sale might yield a working sextant...if the family doesn't understand the value.
