what's the best state to live in?

I'm sure we've all found our niches in the rock.
I always cuss wisconsin the last two, weeks of January, it's typically the coldest harshest time of year, So figuring in gun climate, employment availability, growing season, taxation and general cost of living: where would you move to given a chance??

 

Having lived in Indiana (Central & Southern), Kentucky (Louisville area), Maryland briefly, Missouri (SW-Ozarks/Branson Area), Minnesota (Minneapolis), Florida (Jacksonville area), I have to put in a vote for Indiana.

I can't speak to the 44 states I've not lived in, though I've visited probably another 10 or 12.

Indiana is pretty loose with it's gun laws.
Cost of living is pretty low.
4 very distinct seasons are nice.
People are a little friendlier than a lot of places.

Here in Central IN, the illegals aren't making near the progress as in other places (Southern IN/Louisville KY area is overrun and one reason I left).

I value Hunting and Fishing opportunities and unfortunately Indiana would be the worst of all the above states. The game and fish are there, but you have to work harder at finding a good place. Knowing a lot of farmers really helps.

Employment opportunities I've always kinda viewed as personal standards, If you want work bad enough, it's there, just maybe not paying as much as you'd like.


Overall, I rate Indiana as acceptable.

 

I also like Eastern Oklahoma, pretty liberal Gun Laws, Homeschooling Friendly, not overly populated. I would probably move closer to the AR border, down in the Ouachita Mountains. Pretty even climate most of the time.

If not here, then second choice, ID. Pretty independent citizens, beautiful country.

 

Does anyone have any numbers for how many people have become more interested in survival prepareness either through purchases or more hits on websites? I have picked up a renewed awareness from local people who are not imaginative or easily frightened. I noticed that rural states with few targets have gained up to a fifty percent population increase. Anybody got any numbers to back up this perception that people are getting prepared but keeping it quiet. (They don't want to be regarded as a lunatic).

I definately prefer the state of denial over all the others. In this state, we aren't bothered by federal government intervention and live free, as americans were meant to. There are no liberal or conservative agendas to confuse the issues either. We can wake up at what ever time of the morning we want to and only have to go to work when we are ready. You don't even need to vote here because officials are appointed during happy hour at hooters every day. Our tax dollars are wisely spent and our dollar is inflation proof because it is backed by silver linings sown in puffy white clouds.Our air is clean and our water is pure. Gasoline is .23 a gallon. Beer is served at drinking fountains and our one policeman spends most of his time awaiting retirement so he can get back to fishing.

I am happy in Texas, but if I ever had to leave the Great State of Texas, I think it would probably be for Tenn.

You mean the biggest land grab in history? I am not sure if it is going to happen or not, there is a lot of opposition to it.

 

I go through periods where I don't like Wisc. January and February can be down right nasty, although useful from a training standpoint, the last few winters have not been bad at all, not like years ago when winter lasted for 9 months If your worried about a country sending a few ICBM's this way there are things to worry about in Wisc, weather patterns, ELF communications (used to be a target) I don't find myself worried as much today about that like it was during the cold war, I find myself more worried about a few wack jobs running a dirty bomb into a city and setting that off. From that standpoint where I live is nice. Also the crime rate is low here. Although the population is changing most of my friends are "old timers" to this area and can make it through any situation that is thrown at us. With the low crime rate it makes it a nice place to raise kids.
Now if we can just get the CCW law on the books we would be all set

I admit winters have been mild lately( +4to +16 tomorowcan'tcomplain) remember many january's had last 2weeks of -20 , I like spring and faLL summer brings some bugs in the woods. We are only down range (in wausau) if the big missilefields get hammered and then only after a fewdays. wausau is growing (where isn't?)
but crime is nil, traffic can hardly becalled traffic..employment is fairly available, Overall Its not bad but I like the west wyo/colo/nmex..
