So what did you put away this week?

well,yesterday,i canned 7 pints of chili..we had 1 jar of spaghetti sauce expire Nov 5 2015.so i figure that id go ahead n cook it this eve.then can it..

 

I just put away big bowl of green chili stew and some sopapillas...into my belly. It was delicious.

Oh, forgot to mention that the chili stew was made from a shipment of New Mexico green chilis, the majority of which went into the freezer. Still experimenting with the right soil for growing my own.

 

With all the scares with the ticks and mosquito's, the wife insisted we get some more mosquito repellent. I got to thinking of the stuff the military uses, spray your clothes and it kills and repells them with pyrethrins instead of deet and last through a couple of washings. I bought a spray bottle for about $10 and it seems to work, will treat two sets of clothes and socks, or a tent etc. Was at Walmart today and they had the large cans, 4 sets of clothes for half price. I bought 4 cans and put away. They got rid of it because it wasn't selling well. With zika, lymes disease, west nile disease, etc, what will a mosquito repellent be worth if you are cutting wood, hunting, gardening, or walking in the grass and woods or spending time out of doors? Seems like a better use of $40 than another 40 rounds of 06 ammo.

Still sorting through dad's accumulation , too much stuff. Needless to say, a lot will end up recycled or in the trash.
Trying to market some of it.
There is so much that is still useful though, that for some one like me has a hard time letting go of.
So my job is more unloading than accumulation.

 

I guess I am not the only one that can never throw away a piece of chain.

Today 4 new 10 ply Michelin Defender tires for the Avalanche 4X4. Been waiting to save up the $1000 to get this done. The BFGs were 8 yo and linclons head was high and dry and sun rotted.

Did not want to spend the $$ but in PHX in the 115 deg temps, you have to rely on tires to move around.

Scored 500 rounds of Winchester .22lr and a derringer in .38 special LNIB for $150.00 at a yard sale. Have another 2k of .22lr coming in sometime next week. Picked up another bulk pack of AA Duracells @ Sam's. I've been looking at their newer rechargeables but honestly don't know much about them. The vast majority of our batteries are Duracell or Energizer. We have some rechargables but not many. Want to invest more in this area just not sure yet which to buy.
