U.S. slavery reparations sought in first Black Lives Matter agenda When my jaw gets off the floor I will say what I think about this crap
Since the first slaveholder in the US was black and until the mid 1800's a large percentage of slaveholders were black as well, this could get interesting... What about the black tribes in Africa that caught the slaves initially and then sold them? Do they need to make reparations as well? How about the Slavic peoples, who were so commonly enslaved that their name was used to identify people being owned by other people? Can they get reparations from Italy, Turkey, and the rest of the old Roman Empire?
Unfortunately they will just be looking at John Q American... their list of wants include cutting the defense budget for the country.....what does that have to do with slavery
gotta make sure we got money to pay them, of course. Note they didn't mention cutting welfare or food stamps or Obama phones.
Whatever. Last month they wanted 5 Southern States- EXCLUSIVE–New Black Panther Leader: Blacks Need to Migrate to Five Southern States, Form 'Country Within a Country' - Breitbart With every cry people are getting more and more fed up. They are losing credibility. I have been waiting for them to want a reparation. The Native Americans get stipends so why not them.
WTF? What about all of us who had family that fought against the slave trade? What about my great, great grand dad who ran a Revenue Cutter to blockade southern ports and stop and seize slave ships? What about all those folks that were apposed to slaveing in the first place!
"By the end of the Civil War, roughly 179,000 black men (10% of the Union Army) served as soldiers in the U.S. Army and another 19,000 served in the Navy. Nearly 40,000 black soldiers died over the course of the war—30,000 of infection or disease." "Union Enlistment 2,893,304 Battle Deaths 110,070 Disease Deaths 224,586 Other Causes 24,872 Total Deaths 359,528 Percentage Deaths 12.4% These numbers do not jive...but the point to be made is that Black Soldiers represented a small percentage of Union forces. So, consider this...would it not be fair, since white and other races paid a higher price to free the black people that they, the BLM people, pay us? Just saying...
They don't have to pay us...we again can compromise...they can all move to Syria and we can call it even
Well, if reparations are the subject, I can go along with that. I think all us privileged whites should pay 'em what we owe. But I also think BLM should pay reparations for all black on white crime since the founding of America. In all fairness, we should balance the totals of white on black crime and black on white crime, and just let BLM pay all us downtrodden and much-victimized white folks our fair share of the $401,647,849,285.22 that they presently owe us. That number, BTW, is exact. I worked it out to the penny on the back of an old envelope with a pencil, using the same rigorous principles that underlie all BLM reasoning: 100% pure greed and racism, plus a big bucket-full of wishful thinking.
well what about the Muslims they are still selling slaves and don't forget boko haram and they are black Muslims
I think we need to make a clarification that we are not talking about all but a group of black people that believe this hogwash. A bunch of simple minded whites also have joined the BLM movement. My nephew has not joined the BLM group and you would never know he is half blonde hair, blue eyed. He works, he likes to work and he makes his own way. Someone summed it up nicely- the African Americans are the only heritage that does not look forward, they are always looking in the past. Other cultures have come to America and looked forward, wanting a good future and chasing the American dream. The blacks have not learned the lessons of the past. Yes, they were kidnapped from Africa and enslaved. But there was a war fought to give them freedom. Some got 40 acres and a mule, the colored males got the right to vote before white women. So what I see are people who were brought over here and made to work. We gave them freedom and offered them the opportunity to succeed but we see a large percentage of their population struggling year after year. They are not thriving and I wonder why. Why has that one race seemed to have the hardest time?
You can't move forward until you accept that you are responsible for where you are in life and stop blaming others. The black people I know who have done this have thrived and prospered. The white people I know who blame others are still struggling. It's not about race, it's about taking responsibility.
