    What that is, is farking cold. Minus at least 54 and often colder. An uncomfy breeze most of the time. Paid pretty well back in the day, dunno 'bout now.

    Had a gal that worked for me a few years back that worked Byrd Station in the 'off' season. Claimed it wasn't a lot different than working the North Slope in winter. No matter you cut it. It's cold.

    Dunno off season from on, I was there in high "summer" it was 18 below in full sun at the pole, and dropped to 34 below if a cloud came over. Never made the north slope so have no comparison. McMurdo Sound was quite balmy by comparison, you could find mud where the sun hit.
