Wouldn't seem to be optimal, but I can't imagine the IDF using a practice that would impair defensive capabilities under practical conditions. I'll stick to chamber flags at the range or when introducing neophytes to firearms.

That picture might not be too accurate, The bolts on ARs and M16s typically sit a lot closer to fully closed than that pic implies, at least with all the chamber flags I've seen to date. But yes, "stuff" can get in absent some caution. (Especially if the mag well is open to the elements --)

Remote locations are cheap insurance.
