it is apparent what they want and they will not stop until they succeed. I told my sons you better get 'em before you can not.....

 

The average person won't know the difference between the two and won't care. What they do know is:

• Rifle looks military/scary
• Large magazines
• Fires rapidly

IMO, we won't gain any traction by pointing out the difference, even if that's what the coward used.

 

I wrote this on a very liberal political forum I frequent as a reality check. It did result in some people asking about other solutions. I was surprised, because facts are usually ignored.

Think about it this way - you are 40 times more likely to be killed this year by a drunk driver than by a rifle, including a nutjob or jihadist with an AR-15, AK-47, etc..​

Maybe you should be thinking about banning cars instead of guns, since we have no guaranteed way of keeping a drunk from driving one.

The loss of any life is tragic, and those killed by drunk drivers are just as valuable as the lives killed by a gun."​

 

Facts mean nothing to those who use emotions and denial as part of an ideology....

 

Why do I get the impression that the reason politicians are pushing for more gun controls is because they fear for their continuing position in power?

Only a leftist would believe they actually worry about the safety of the average American hoi-polloi.

 

Not only that, their fear of others is frequently a projection of themselves. In other words, people who are likely to violently lose control fear that others will do so as well. Note that the more emotionally driven a person is, the greater the tendency to lose control. IMO this is the communication challenge between rational and emotionally driven people - neither side an understand what drives the other.

 

I was watching Bill O'Reilly last night, here is what he said-

It was one of those evenings of yelling at the TV. O'Reilly lost my respect a long time ago. I am done with that wife abuser.

 

Nobody who has their own armed security gets to tell me what weapons I can or can't have.

What the Hell? Did I read this correctly? Is he saying or even implicating that the Sig Sauer MCX shooting a 5.56 round that was used in the massacre is a 'heavy weapon?' Is that what he is advocating? What is he advocating here? Another run at an 'Assault Weapons' ban? Sorry, Billy boy but you and I are finished. Let's blame the gun and not the gunner. Does this guy even know what he's talking about? Heavy weapon?

My friend, who is a true genius but lacks common sense said something like this and I had to explain the Mini-14 and many other semi-automatic rifles and pistols to him and afterwards I asked the question, 'So, what is an Assault Weapon?" He said he would consider all firearms Assault Weapons based on what I told him and his knowledge of the different wars where many a soldier 'assaulted' the enemy with even bolt action rifles...and bayonets (Oh, let's not forget them)

Sorry, I am a single issue voter...if you don't understand the concepts of liberty and freedom, you don't get my vote. One's views on our right to bear arms, as well as other rights like free speech, due process, privacy, etc. is an indicator of their understanding of freedom and liberty. Trump is blowing it...blame him for compromising his principles, don't blame those who refuse to do so.

Trump best convince me fast that he had not thought through his tweet, that he understands the danger to more than just our right to bear arms when you start restricting people's rights based on star-chamber blacklists with no due process dictating inclusion, appeal and exclusion.
