Been playin with the family today and thought I'd share... all in 357 (derringer in 38spc) I just decided to keep the King Cobra and not trade it for a 1911 like I had planned. I'd hate to break up a happy family The "Head of Household" would be the Colt King Cobra. And I think I'm going to adopt in a couple new members so I can go ahead and start Cowboy Action Competition. They're below. An 1851 Colt Navy Cap & Ball converted to 38 spc. And a Winchester 1873 rifle in 357 mag. At least I'm loyal to a caliber. Whatcha think?
Wise decision keeping the Cobra , no man should be without a nice 4 inch .357 and they don't make those babies anymore !
Nice collection. That King Cobra is one mean looking piece of steel. Sexy and dangerous all at the same time.
Accuracy is so-so. The rear sight does not really exist, it's just a notch cut into the hammer, and when the hammer is cocked, it lines up pretty well. But for cowboy action shoots, your only talkin 7-10 yards or so on the pistol targets, so it's not much of an issue. I was a big Jose Wales fan as a kid, these are what he carried. I always thought they looked really cool
I'm sorry, you misunderstood. The bottom 2 pics (1851 colt revolver and 1873 winchester) are only "about to be adopted". The pics are from the site that sells them (link below). I don't own those 2 yet, but It won't be long now, I have shot a near identical 1851 colt navy, and I loved it! The 1873 Colt "Peacemaker" in the top pic, I've had for about 3 years and it's a ball too. It's surprising how fast you can engage even multiple targets with a single action with some practice. Something about those pistols makes you quote Eastwood before firing "Dyin' aint much a livin' boy" "Well Mr. Carpetbagger, how's it do on stains.... [spit]" "Hell with them fella's. Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms." "That's right, I've killed women and children. I've killed just about everything that walks or crawls at one time or another. And I'm here to kill you Little Bill, for what you done to Ned". The site that sells them is Cimarron Arms, they deal only in cowboy era reproduction arms and they are excellent quality, a favorite with competitive cowboy action shooters. They even carry the "Quigley" model Sharps rifle! http://www.cimarron-firearms.com/
"Are you gonna pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?" Here is a good link to a John Wayne soundboard. http://www.allfunnystuff.com/content.php?type=recent&iid=690&cid=30
There are times I wish I didn't sell almost of my revolvers to buy semi-auto pistols. Nice family you got there, thanks for sharing.
