The graph is above based on tax deductions, not actual spending...

"...Roughly 70 percent of each year’s spending on individual tax expenditures is delivered in the form of deductions, exemptions, or exclusions... "

Obviously one should expect those paying a greater percentage of taxes will tend to get more in the way of deductions. Twisted half truths make some of the best lies...

Frankly not interested in wasting my time to do the research, but it would be interesting to see the percentages of actual tax expenditures such as welfare, medical, etc., vs taxes paid in those same 20% increments.

Logan,UT, often shows up as "safest city in US" or some other silly list. A look at the stats shows the major difference between Big, old East Coast mega-cites and the more open West.

As of the 2000 Census the median income for a household in the city was $30,778, and the median income for a family was $33,784. Males had a median income of $27,304 versus $19,687 for females. The per capita income for the city was $13,765. About 12.6% of families and 22.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 15.6% of those under age 18 and 6.4% of those age 65 or over.

Why is crime so low? Hard to say, but culture may play a large part....

The large number of Mormons? The whole upper Salt Lake valley is a great place. So is most,of Utah for that matter. Spent a lot of time there hunting, fishing or skiing.

Wrong, chello. The lowest 20% don't bother paying taxes at all. And if my memory serves, the top 1% are paying @30% of the TOTAL tax bill. So it cracks me up when folks say they are "not pulling Thier fair share". As the profits go up, so do the tax rates, and that inhibits growth. OF COURSE they will look for whatever tax breaks they can get, ad they are still paying a much higher percentage than "Thier fair share".

i was surprised by the amount of "Fan Art" for some of these cartoons...

I'm also surprised, now that I look at it, the sheer number of characters portrayed as redheads....
