Hit one of the roadside fleamarkets that I've ignored for a while. Picked up an Alladin lantern for $5, a NIB Icom vhf marine radio for 15, and a nice Consolidated Dutchwest wood stove for 275...with all of the accessories except the warming shelf and brass dress-up trim.[marshmallow]

Has anyone thought about cheap reading glasses as part of their preps. Just had the thought as I need them to read and think the dollar store is on my to do list.

Get a eye examine and then use Zenni Optical. They have some excellent titanium frames. Bifocals are less than 100 bucks.

I have about 2 dozen pairs stashed in different places and bags. I can't read without them either.

Thought about them and then found out I had astigmatism so readers would be a stop gap and not good for long term use.

Refilled a couple fuel containers...and cleaned up the new (to us) wood stove. Got a couple more curing burns for the paint and gasket sealant to set, but... STOVE.

Score today! A Big Berkey water filter at the nearest Goodwill store for $8.00! I don't mind that it needs filters! I saw it in the furniture dept, sitting on a table, and I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.

Toilet paper and Raman noodles. I have enough Raman now for about 50 meals for 6 people . Add Venison or Rabbit and a can of mixed veggies and good to go.

I got to check a big one off my list today by finishing the installation of my deep well and Bison hand pump. The unique thing about this hand pump is it will pressurize the holding tank (by shutting the valve on the pump spout) and deliver water to the home and barn, just like the electric. The foundation is for 12x14 combination well house and food storage area.
    well.

I love the pump set up. Are you going to heat the building, here it would freeze in the winter.

@Kingfish As long as I have electricity I will keep a heat lamp on it set to go on at 36 degrees. We do not get many sub freezing days where I live. Then it's only for a few hours. If need be I can drain the whole system using a valve under the building without draining the house.

A suggestion, setup a distribution manifold now.

I would have to wrap mine in insulation and heat it. The nights here have reached 25 below zero at times over the years. We had 15 below just last winter and zero so far this winter. I want a hand pump in my basement hooked to a well outside. That would be tops for us here.
