We might be comparing apples and oranges here.
357 out of a 4" bbl vs a 30carbine out of a 16+ inch carbine barrel.

a 357 pistol is going to be in the 4-550 FPE at the muzzle
a 30carbine is going to be 900+ FPE at the muzzle of a rifle/carbine barrel.

Of course, you can jack up the velocities and change projectiles and get all kinds of different values.

 

This thread reminds me of this poster. I have looked and looked and still haven't decided which three.

 

2,3,and 9 are the only ones that aren't toys. I mean both in construction, and design.
