    Close, but wrong island. This one is on the summit of Haleakala on Maui. It's the DKIST 4m solar telescope project. We're about halfway complete in the 10-year design-build project. Expect to be operational in mid-2019.

    lol. Yup. Approximately ~140ft tall from ground to top of dome. It's now the highest point on the island of Maui.

    Here's an external shot I took yesterday DKIST 01. of the DKIST facility under construction on the mountain. We're on the left (obviously). The facility on the far right is an Air Force satellite and missile tracking station, and the smaller domes in the middle are Univerisity of Hawaii telescopes.

    My ride home today. DeHaviland Otter broke through the ice on Sockeye Lake a few days ago. We flew overhead and saw the tail section sticking up. Big mess there. I have three feet of snow to shovel off my porch. Got half of that done but the rest can wait till tomorrow.
