Hi everyone, I just wanted to share with you the cabin we have been building over the last couple of years. It is off grid. Our electricity for interior lighting comes from a 12 V battery that gets charged daily by 2 solar panels. It is still under construction but this is where we are now! When we visit in the winter we heat with a small Kero-World heater. I feel it is a bit small for a wood stove but we haven't ruled this out in the future. We will do a lot more interior work next Spring. ~thewildyam
Nice!! Beautiful setting. I'd figure a way to enclose the under side of the cabin, just to help keep the local wildlife from making it a home.
Nice job, very nice. You may want to think about blocking off the area under the floor so larger animals like raccoons or woodchucks don't take up residence.
Yes it does! Cool! Thanks for the idea. We cook outside for now and there is a composting toilet in another outbuilding.
I will also recommend Dickenson Oil Stoves.... We have one, that heats our Cabin, Cooks our food, AND makes ALL our Domestic Hot Water... No electricity, of ANY Kind, REQUIRED.....
Where are your panels? Seems to be a lot of shading on the property. Are they in an area open enough to the sky to get a decent number of Sun Hours, daily? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what size panels do you run?
