Picked up another 500 rounds of XM193 today - great sale going on at a local gun store. I'm lopsided to arms in my preps as many neophytes are, so have been backing off in favor of food/water/shelter, but it was better than mail order prices and of course used cash. Would have bought more, but still planning on beans, rice, salt, and 5 gallon buckets this pay period.

I spent the afternoon packing two of my 4 Winter Freezers, with our Frozen Meats and Bread.... Momma will be here on Monday, and then we, together, will finish packing the last two, and put away the Dry Foods, in our Storage Room. When we get done, we will be set for Winter, food wise. Last barge, left here on Friday @ 1400 local, Next one will be Next May. It feels very comforting to have 18 months of Grub, stashed away, and if we needed to, that could easily be extended on out to 24 months, if things got tough. Tank Farm is full, so Fuel is Good.... It is raining Lynx and Malamutes, today, so good day to stay inside and Read a Book.....

These are all Dollar store purchases. Mostly for the car or a get-home bag.
Also, things like the flashlights/batteries are meant as secondary/tertiary [don't worry, I have plenty of other flashlights, just would rather not buy more $12 to $20 lights at this time.]
    • 3-LED flashlight $1
    • AAA batteries (8pack for $1) [no I don't trust they will last long]
    • 1.5 inch shackle padlock $1
    • Combo can/bottle opener
    • Toothbrushes 4-pack
    • Fancyheat 2.8 oz $1 -- Haven't tried it myself yet. Won't put in a "bag" as I'm afraid to tip over, but it does have a screw on top. Three hour burn time by the guy on Youtube.
    • Tealight candles ($1 for 8 package) 9.0 g each
Including doubles of some things, and tax $11.74 total
I found a Youtube review for the FancyHeat for anyone interested in more details.

Don't store Batteries in a hot car, unless you have a means of charging them. To store Batteries long term, freeze them. Stored hot, they will not have much left when you need them.

Not nearly what I do need, though managed to get some 7 1/2 & 8 shot as well as more 7.62x39. Oh, and working on getting my welding certification.

I used to reload back in the day when I was competitive shooting and NRA Whittington center was my back yard. Then I fell on hard times and sold everything off. Getting back into reloading was always on my list of things to recover, but other priorities kept putting it off. Today my new turret press arrives, along with .45acp dies, puller, tumbler, media, etc. Next up: powder, primers, bullets and 7.62x39 dies. I already have lots of used brass. :)

Going forward I'd like to get a rotary tumbler and start using that stainless steel media.

If anyone's looking for (relatively) inexpensive, strong shelving, the wire shelving units that I prefer (see my post, last page or two, with the photo of my T.P. collection, for reference ;) ) are on sale at Target again, this week.

$39.99 for a 36" wide X 18" deep X 72" tall shelving unit, in black or chrome, with an alleged 350 pound rating per shelf (though I haven't ever loaded mine up that heavily). Target is also doing a deal, online, where you can save 10% with a $50 purchase, so if you buy two, you'll get them for $36/unit. And, of course, they'll also knock off 5% if you use their store credit card, which would knock the price down to just over $34/unit, plus sales tax where applicable.

I have a total of 12 of these shelving units in my house, and think they're a great combination of strength, utility (because they're adjustable in 1" increments), and cost. Plus, I can shove 3 of them at a time, in the back of my Jeep Wrangler, with the back seat folded up!

AlaskaChick has a Dan Wesson .357 Mag, in Stainless, with the complete PistolPak.... When she carries, it has the 2' SNUBBY mounted, and it is in her Purse. She has always said, that if she came up against a Miscreant, that she would smack the Thug, "Up side the Head" by swinging her purse, "and if he was still wiggling, pull put the Weapon, and finish him off.... We routinely go out to the Dock, and recycle our Glass Containers, by chucking them into the Inlet, and then shooting them. Ranges are usually about 10-20 Yds, depending on the State of the Tide. With the 10" Barrel mounted, I would NOT want to in her sights, anywhere inside 100Yds, if she wasn't happy with Me.... She makes the Phrase, "One Shot, One Kill" a reality, on a regular basis.... We reload ALL out own Ammunition, except the .22LR.... and have since we were married, some 40+ years ago....
