A couple of pics around my place. It's a year round creek. Deer cross the trail to visit the creek. The creek is about 20ft. from the deck.

 

I helping at a fire safety event today. Kids building fire trucks was one of the things there. Some really creative kids.
then I was showing these to the firemen and harassing them about the color of real fire engines. So they gave me this
and started calling me JR and telling me to come back when I wasn't color blind. good fun all around!

And just had a small herd of Caribou show up few mintues ago.





There are about 20 now. I have to get an attachment so I can take good photos through my spotter. This is a lame line up the cell phone and pray photo. On 20x, I'd like to crank it up to 60x and take decent photos.

Went hiking today. My vote for the worst invention ever, the Alder. Like a forest of upside down octopus. One thing that helps you get through them is the sweat pouring from your body. Helps lubricate so you can slide through.

 

Tks, Try standing on that dock and taking care of 'Man Business' when one of these Lizards pop's up under you, I'm pretty much immune to there invasion of my privacy.

 

My home grown cotton came in handy this morning. One of my new mommas made her nest on the wire and all her fur fell through, so I remade a nest for the kits using the cotton. THEY LOOK LIKE WORMS lol

So here is one I found today that I should have posted. Actually two. The trail from my cabin to the lake. Same trail the moose like to use. The alders here are buried under snow later on in the winter.

 

It's never too late. Alaska is about the only place left where you can still find true wilderness. The kind where you can go months without seeing anyone else if you so choose. Headed out in a few minutes to check my game cameras. My closest full time neighbor (4.5 miles as the raven flys) was attacked by a grizzly sow a week ago. His dog found momma and two cubs, got them worked up and brought them straight back to Master who was working outside. He was bitten and knocked down but managed to fire a couple shots with his lever rifle and off they went. The dog and bears went unscathed.
