Thanks @Hanzo ... still alive... pretty miserable...
I wear a long sleeve cotton shirt, full length leather apron, steel toe shoes, p100 respirator, ear plugs, safety glasses, boonie hat and full face shield and one or two sets of gloves depending... yeah... soaked with sweat...
No fans going so the toxic / steel / irritant dust doesn't get blown all over everything in the shop... just the air cleaner....

Promised the pics of the CS Handled do it yourself finish kit... so here it is with the CS trench hawk as a comparison...

Took some extra pics of the hardware I provided... note the CS hardware (black) provided bolt is not long enough to fully engage all the the available threads on the cap nut... the bolts I provide are one shorter and longer (longer one will need to be trimmed or filled a bit) engage all the threads on the cap nut.... The CS also is a hex bolt and mine are combination slotted / phillips for ease of use in the field.... yeah... I pay attention to tiny details like that ;)

Anyway... this is boxed and ready to go out...

Still have some plate stock left so if anyone wants a kit or the more expensive full finished version... shoot me a pm and twist my arm ;)

    Have a great day!

    Stay cool!

    Nice work @Bear.

    Aloha Monkeys,

Wow it's been a while... been a busy Monkey...

Had a request from a Uncle, who is a Minister, for 3 of my crosses that I hand forge from railroad spikes and mark with John 3:16 and put a protective coat of beeswax on ...

If you do a search here you'll find the thread on it and a youtube search for "Emma's Cross" will show just how I make them...

Something different from a Railroad Spike :0) | Survival Forums

Made extra since the forge was running and kept one for my shop... haven't made these for a good long while so thought I would offer some for sale ... proceeds all go to a confidential good cause...

$30 each... shipped to the USA...

Hope everyone is having a great week!

    Take Care and God Bless,

    Aloha Monkeys,

Here's a rare rare opportunity from the Bear workshop...

These have been some of my good luck and safety amulets hanging in my shop that I am going to offer up for a confidential good cause...

All have been carved by Ainu in Hokkaido Japan... two are signed and one has glass eyes.....

All the large are $60 shipped to the USA... and the small blackie on the far right is $50 shipped to the USA....

Add $15 to that.... and for now and ever more on an unlimited amount of my offerings... take 15% off anything I offer up here just by posting a picture of your "Bear" and saying I'll take it ;)

(PS... these are guaranteed to make you irresistible to other bears, animals, insects and the opposite sex... protect you from demons and other assorted aliens and mutants... help you lose weight and grow hair... increase your performance in sports, exams, and other assorted "activities"... ward off poor luck, injuries, terrible jokes, body odor and bad breath and live an additional 5 years... 10 if you add $15... lol....)

Check with @Hanzo for confirmation of the above... ;)

Thanks for all the support, kind words and interest....

    Have a great week!

Those are bargains. Don't ask me about @Bear's guarantees. If he says it is so, it is so. Just remember, if you see it on the internet, it must be true.

I know they are good deals! Cannot vouch for, uh, performance enhancement. All survival monkeys are already prime alpha people, so at that level, any enhancement wouldn't even be noticeable.

That's how long it took the ants outside to clean the coconut shell for @Bear. Being Bear, he needs a big one. So next time I see you, you can have it.

    Aloha Monkeys,

It's a survival thing so I'm putting it here... sort of bushcrafty in a urban sort of way....

Watched "San Andreas" with Dwayne Johnson last night... and picked up something that I would have never thought of... probably been discussed here before but hey I thought it was a good thing to keep tucked away in the Mental Toolbox...

So the earthquakes hit and of course... after their batteries die... all cell service is down... no way to contact the hero ...

So his daughter finds an electronics store and looks for a corded / land line phone... yes they still sell those... I still pay for my land line for just those type of emergencies and have a couple corded phones...

Anyway they find a phone with a cord and then she looks for a land line plug... finds one for the merchant credit card sweep... plugs in the phone and voila... contacts "The Rock" who is flying his helicopter on the way to save her...

Now I don't know if this actually works... but it's a good thing to know...

All you techies out there... like @melbo or others... here's a question...

    would this work?...
can you plug into other comm cables to make a land line work with a corded phone?...
can you make an adapter to fit the corded phone into an existing comm plug if necessary?...
    Are they available already?....

OK that was more than one question...
I suppose the merchant swipe may be moot with some using cellular swipes... but how about the computer cable?

This oftentimes "Urban Bushcrafty Monkey" wants to know these things.... ;)

Great movie by the way... at least I thought so...

Not as much visible gore from all the death and destruction and a decidedly apparent lack of chaos and screaming you would expect... but still quite enjoyable... and I learned something...

PS... always carry a tool that can or at least know one or two ways to break a tempered glass window ;)

That's all for now... doing some deep thinking about my next post that may not be so popular with some... Duh Duh Duhhhhh.....

Have a great weekend all !

    Take Care and God Bless,

    Bear

Here is a link to a similar question a while back on another thread that I threw an answer out to.... it should answer your question about where to look for dial tone. Not all jacks will be cross connected that you come across in an office building or house. But there are certain devices that will defiantly have dial tone to grab with either a standard telephone or a line-mans butt set. Computer jacks are an 8-pin connector and will not provide telephone use as they are different in nature. A phone jack is typically a 4 or 6 pin connector. Now days with the advent of VOIP, the phones in a lot of office areas are essentially just another network device.... which will cease working as soon as the UPS keeping the network going, runs out of juice.

    Aloha Monkeys,

A simple project for 3 -5 year olds at Church....

Lesson on Missions... this one was the Mission in Laos... and since they eat rice... voila!

(Of course you need to have some rice growing... which I just happen to have ;) )

Yogurt containers make great little starter pots... drill a few holes and the kids are happy...

Have a great Friday and Weekend all!

    Take Care and God Bless,

    Bear

My monkeys buy andagi from the Andagi Guy by the dozens. Nuts right? Whenever they see him set up shop, they buy six dozen. Then the neighbors get a bunch and the monkeys eat way too many. Sometimes, I even get one or two. They never get them over the weekend, or I would be slinging them at you.

So do your darnedest with your andagi! We ARE an Uchinanchu family after all.
