It is worth pointing out that, Bear in mind that most of the middle east "citizens" are also armed, and a large share of African countries' "citizens" are armed as well, regardless of local laws and official governments.
"WHEREAS, the very uniforms worn by these courageous Marines made them targets of terrorism" (WHEREAS from this date forward, all military personnel shall be considered "out of uniform" without their Second Amendment garrenteed firearm to defend that uniform.) Signed this date, Kellory the First.
I just stated to a friend about this terrorist act yesterday, that if I were the senior enlisted member at any recruiting station, that to hell with orders, me and my people would have to go bags with weapons and ammo, vests, and helmets, comm gear for acting in concert if it came to that to protect ourselves and others should we ever come under attack. Better a Court Marshal or other disciplinary action after the fact instead of dead! If caught prior to any necessary action in possession of the defensive equipment, I would take full responsibility for the violation of orders and state I ordered my subordinates to comply with these actions. . It's called common sense, and taking care of your people.
Did you see the news about the two guys that went to their local recruiting station and stood guard duty with weapons in full view? We have more people like them in this country than we know
This is real shaky ground people. I wish Broker would chime in on this. Do we want armed standing army armed and ready on our shores? OR should we just let off duty troops open carry for self defense. Or is there some middle ground? Maybe due to the threat we should have Military police guarding the posts? I really dont have an answer to this. These men should not have been defenseless. I guess even the constitution doesn't have an answer. They should at the very least be able to open carry a sidearm. This situation can if not handled right lead to our Military fully armed and patrolling on our own streets. I'm a little nervous about this whole thing WITH JADE HELM and all. What If this shooter is just a plant? W e have long worried that our military may be used against our own population. Hell , we have debated it here. This type of attack is the catalyst for implementing military use of force on our own people. My self I think gun free zones are bad. I think anyone including our off duty troops should be able to open carry. That may have saved a few of those lives. However I dont have the answer. So what do guys think? how far do we allow the military to arm and deploy in the U.S.?
If he breaks the law, then and only then. Should there be an issue. "Gun free zone" should mean free gun giveaways How does a soldier stop being a citizen? He has a Right to self defense, and any law that infringes that, should not be valid, on his native soil.
@Kingfish You shouldn't worry about Jade Helm. SpecOps soldiers are the last guys the .gov wants policing the citzenry. They think for themselves quite a bit.
When you are a soldier, you give up many of your Constitutional Rights.... and you depend on your superiors, to Issue Constitutionally Valid Orders, that you then Follow. The Commander in Chief could change the Standing Orders, with a "Stoke of the Pen" and a PhoneCall, but our POTUS is such a Woose, that it would never cross his mind, and the Joint Chiefs, can't make that decision on their OWN. Our .MIL is under the Command of OUR Elected President, and if the citizens insist on electing a DUFUS, then we just have to live with his BS, until he gets REPLACED, and Pray for a Better Guy, Next time.....
A fifth one has died and all the news seems to be concerned about is that someone had the nerve to insult Bruce Jenner. This country is sick. There should be outrage yet most passively go about their shallow lives being told what to think. Out of 22 on my FB page only 3 prayed or expressed anger over the Chattanooga shooting. I think that says a lot. I almost use them as a study group. Either people are afraid to voice their outrage or we are really that big of a target.
I don't think Facebook is a good indicator. .. many companies require that you grant them access to your Facebook page so they can see what you are posting. I'm very careful what I post on mine
I am MUCH more concerned about the 18 to 25 year old soldiers (E-1 to E-4) with M-4's. They don't think for themselves at all.
I guess what I believe is that any citizen , including OFF duty Military should be able to open carry at the very least a sidearm. These 5 being completely unarmed is unacceptable to me.
I'm with you on this one. The male brain in the frontal lob, where judgement is housed, is not fully developed until about 25 and in females about 21. Look at car insurance rates in that age group if you don't believe me. 'Dude hold my beer' if you know what I mean So not sure letting them pack side arms while off duty is a good idea. At the recruiting station is a different story. I have seen these recruiters do PT with young guys and mentor them whether they signed up for service or not They provide so much more to communities than just recruiting
And they (E1 to E4) MUST NOT THINK at the risk of not obeying an order in battle. I should not wish to see an O1 or 02 officer running around armed, either, for similar reasons. When you get to the rates and ranks that are paid to think, to take any form of command, then arm them and provide arms for issue to those that they are in position to direct. For cases involving gate and security posts, yes arm the guards (including the special posts in, say, mess halls) with clear standing orders. That makes better sense to me. YMMV uv cuss.
I have my doubts about the females at 21.... spring break, Ladies Night at the club, and Girls Gone Wild videos tell me more than car insurance rates.
