    These are 1800 rpm units and even with stock mufflers are pretty quiet. I believe elsewhere in the tree are post relating to "sound boxes". The gensets sold as contractor or homeowner units are generally 3600 rpm units and the mufflers are a joke. My back up genset is a Dometic water cooled RV unit and even without a sound reducing enclosure is quiet enough to sit and talk close to it. Used RV units, in my opinion, are really good deals for gas powered back ups.

    RV generators are designed from the start, as quieter, do to being used in trailer parks and campgrounds.

    Thanks for the answers. I've also heard that solar generators are really quiet too(and will be 'free' to power up)...does anyone here have any experience with one?

    The units are nice, but you can put together your own for a lot less $$$. Look at what is actually included, then price the items separately...There's a big markup.

    Mostly because folks, ALWAYS think their Junk, is worth more, than other Peoples Junk.... if you want to watch for good deals, look here.....

    I use CL with caution. It is full of liars, fakes, and no shows. It would not really surprise me, to find the engine missing on a car for sale listed as "runs great, as is".
