So what did you put away this week?

Thanks YD. It's only the 2nd time we've had to put one of our animals down(last was 15years ago), the rest died on their own. There seems to be a new tradition in this house, when we get new kittens, one of our older animals dies. In 2012 when I found the 2 orphaned Siamese kittens, our senior cat died less than 2 weeks later from a stroke, last year around 6 weeks after the 4 tiger kittens showed up, one of the Siamese died due to surgical complications, now we get these 2 kittens, just 2 days before we put Shadowbear down.

 

Oh and I named the new black and white kitten Stoner.

Inventory. Going away for the summer so it's a good time for counting and planning.

 

Received a free 60 day membership in the mail over the weekend so we hit the big box store. Amongst other things, we splurged on a HUGE beef rib roast and had it cut into 1.5" bone-in steaks, netted 12 fantastical ribeyes which were vac sealed and stashed in the freezer.

Last spring I scored a picnic table full of quart size mason jars which I posted about here. We'll be filling those and others well into most of next week putting up the chicken & pork we brought home with the steaks.

 

Our original cat we moved here with, they had a catnip 'problem', which I believe they passed to his 'apprentice'. Original cat, once when we came home, he had found the ziploc baggie I had put some dried catnip in, bag was EMPTY and his pupils were dilated as hell. And his 'apprentice' I found rolling around in the catnip patch this afternoon.

 

More Water Jel, First Aid Burn dressings, a number of #10 egg crystals (given the kill off of chickens & turkeys from avian flu) to supplement our existing supplies, some more 5.56 Barnes 85gr ammo (love these but you have to have a 1:7 twist), and a replacement pump for the pressure washer.

This week I bought a 181/2" barrel for my 12 ga. 870 wingmaster, and 100 rounds of 00 buck. Found a good hand air pump & some fishing gear at a yard sale.

found a new junk/ scrap yard buy the house and the guy buys and sells new surplus metal and has more stuff then u can shake a stick at .. so i went there to buy a piece of pipe and left with the pipe for 40$
and 8 ft of all thread and a track for my track burner and one the them "cork screw log splitters for free"
now we can start the conversation on how dangerous these things are ....

 

I wish the dump here would let you get/buy things others dump, because we've seen some good stuff there. Heard that they used to do that, but someone got a used propane thing and was an idiot and damage ensued.

 

Yep. A local recycler here, used to sell as well as buy, you just paid a bit above scrap value. Until one guy bought a piece, cut and welded it himself, his own design, (overloaded) and it failed. He sued, and the scrap yard stopped selling anything back out of the yard.
