    HAPPY EASTER!

    Happy Easter Monkeys!

Sometimes we all just need to stop, take in and be grateful for all the wonder and beauty that surrounds us... even just in our own back yard.... not just the flowers but everything, everyone and all the countless blessings, miracles and wonders that maybe we forget all to often in this hustle and bustle world...

My very best to you and yours on this very special day!

    Take Care and God Bless,

    Bear

    Another memory I'm thankful for....

My Daughter and her puppies... a long long time ago... seems like yesterday ;)... She's all grown up and both her girls have long passed over the rainbow bridge...

    Good stuff!

    Happy Easter!

    Aloha Monkeys,
It's been a busy month with life and things I needed to get done....

But wanted to share a "tool" I made from a repurposed item... I almost put out for bulk trash pick up ...

It's an old shop stool that was rusty and frankly I am almost never sitting in my shop so it was just getting in the way and having to be moved...

Was looking at it and thinking bulk trash pickup was coming up... first Tuesday of each month here... when the light bulb went on...

Here's my new "Shop Buddy"... it's for tongs, hardies, hammers etc... when I'm forging... frankly have been frustrated at times moving things around when I change hammers or tongs or need a swage or a hardy tool....
adjustable height is also nice for the vise, and fly press work which are at different heights....

Protective sleeve on the gas riser so crud doesn't get in there from forging or grinding... rises and falls with the tool holder,

Base... welded diamond plate and rolled lip so I can put hardy, swage and other heavy tools to make sure this is bottom heavy and won't tip... (I know there are some very skilled welders here... and yes... I am NOT one of them ;) )

Added a bunch of square tubing for the tongs but also so I can easily weld a 1" hardy post and mount other plates or tools on top... and a nice place in the center to put a couple of different hammer or others tools I may be using ...

Replaced the crappy plastic wheels with 50b capacity ball bearing wheels... actually the only cost to this as I had all the other materials... $20

Works great... high heat rustoleum ... painted to match a lot of items in my shop... like tool cabinets and extinguishers....

Great project for me... and will certainly add productivity as I don't like hanging tongs or tools around my anvils... easy to position and push out of the way...

Next time you see one of those stools in the house, shop or on the side of the road... maybe there's a solution for you too...
New life for an otherwise piece of unwanted junk ;)
Hope this gives someone some ideas or inspiration for a great platform for a number of different things....

    Have a great weekend...

    Take Care and God Bless,

    Bear

    Aloha Monkeys,

Finally got to and finished up one of the member projects that stacked up in the shop over that last couple months...

This is a bearing block for the bow drill method of fire making....

This one was requested by out of the blue by a long time member... it's off in the mail tomorrow to make it by the weekend for some jungle time ....

@Hanzo got to see the rough at lunch today....

This one is in some old brown canvas micarta as requested... with a bearing seated and relieved on the bottom to ensure it spins freely and for lubrication when the time comes...

Diamond cut the outside of the bearing so that the G-Flex epoxy would hold tight...

Fit's my hand nicely but was left a bit oversized for any additional "fitting" the new owner may want to fit it perfectly to his hand... a couple minutes with a mill bastard file and some sand paper will customize this easily... and a coat of wax for some grip and shine...

Got a few more bearings I had lying around so I'll make a few more of these... have another brown already drilled for the bearing... probably do a black micarta... and some nice black walnut burl, curly koa, curly maple etc... I think I also have some nice antler, horn and fossil walrus jaw as well...

This is the bushcraft section... so I can drill and set the bearings... and offer a do it yourself version... with just the bearing set and you finish it the way you want... ;)

Let me know if anyone is interested... post it here or shoot me a pm....

Been getting inquires... so here you go...

$20 + $6 shipping USPS Priority, insured with tracking for a finished black or brown micarta to the USA

$10 + $6 shipping USPS Priority, insured with tracking for a "do it yourself" block with the bearing fitted and GFlex epoxied to the USA

Other materials will change the totals.... I'll get some pics of what I have available...

Prices good on the 10 bearings I left have in the shop...

    Sound reasonable?

Anyway... here's some pics to hold the member over until it arrives in a few days... Hope you like it!

Now on to a couple other member projects

    Have a great week everyone!

    Take Care and God Bless,

    Bear

    Aloha @HK_User ,

Here you go... not a big fan of Chinese (except @Hanzo and his clan of Monkeys ;) ) but it keeps the price down...
Only have two of those USA bearings right now... and they add $5 to the cost... for those who want a USA tool and maybe a special wood or bone....

Thanks for asking... good detailed question...

    Have a great day!

Ahh, no problem, just that I have a variety bearings in the shop and wondered the ID for the Bow drive and you could send mine bearing less and save those for others.

Aloha @HK_User ... measure your bearings in the shop... if any have an OD of 32mm... I'll send you a block ready to go... you'll just need to epoxy, jb weld or super glue it in...

    Thanks...
