Until you realized that one of them was the mechanic, and 30miles was pushing it for racing without breaking something.

Not to worry, if it was English and had Lucas Electrics then it was going to break.

Yep, English. At least it looks enough like an MG TC to convince me. Just how they got it airborne, I cannot understand. And yep, Lucas (the Prince of Darkness) was the supplier.

I believe you have misplaced your information a bit.

The two cars you mention were short lived and one was more political driven to fail, that being the Pinto.
If in doubt then match up the MGs fuel tank and ram it the way the Pinto's was done. BOOM!
AMC struggled to be a new wave car that did not set well with many in the US.

Then again LUCAS was used and cussed in most all British cars and motorcycles for decades because they were backed by the ruling class in the UK.

Maybe you missed the Mil Arms of those groups!

Ahhhh that's OK, cut them off at the knees and then sell the leavings.

Either way, go to war or buy out the aholes that sell Mil information to those that want to kill the US, so those "trades" had nothing to do about autos.

So, go ahead look way back and see what those groups did to kill US, sailors, marines, army and air force personnel.

No matter what you (US) do to protect your self, somebody is gonna bitch.

Dismantling your enemies (proven by their actions) Mil complex is way better than landing troops on their shores.

The COLD war was never cold and it was never over.

What does Ford have to do with bailout money. They didn't take the govt. bailout...
BTW, Volvo is building a plant in the US and will employ 4,000 workers.

I'd go line by line but why? After all you picked and chose and I guess you are not aware that fuel injection has been on American cars years before 1970, my first memory was like an early Vette of a 1960 vintage and then a 58 Chevy Sedan and on and on. Dates, where are your dates! Why do you play the head games and leave out dates or play the silly game of misspelling.

Cobra, ever heard of it and the high dollar EU cars it beat to death? Yup selectivity and misinformation makes "technical information & catch up" something that in this case is just pure snot.

Using the Spitfire Merlin Engine IMO is really a drag. How could any one expect a WWll Fighter engine to be built to the same lowly levels as the MGs? Not to mention they had a different systems, more maintenance per hour than any MG and a short life expectancy to boot.

A Bad Example in the upper echelon to compare Autos to Airplanes, magnetos to distributors etc.

    So I'm done.

Corvette's were first fuel injected in 1957 and certainly qualify as production vehicles, though lacked the panache of the boxy 1970's Volvo  1957 Corvette - HowStuffWorks

Carburation dominated in US vehicles until fuel prices rose enough for the market (and CAFE requirements) demanded a more fuel efficient vehicle. Remember that gas/petroleum has always been much cheaper in the US than elsewhere - on my last trip a liter cost more in GBP than a gallon in USD.
