Absurd is a better word. I'll get 2500 seeds off 1 plant for next year or I'll take a bite out of my John Deere hat. $500? Ya right. Free to any monkey
Is there a way to determine this by observation or otherwise? I have no clue. How do they ensure the true breed seed? Frankly...i'd rather mine went wild....blood-lines p155 me off in humanity....why should it be different with tomatoes eh?
The package says hybrid.... They don't usually bread true for more than a year The package says non hybrid or open- pollinated. The trendy term is 'heirloom' Hybrid Seeds vs. GMOs | Food Renegade That explains a bit about it. Nothing wrong with hybrids... They just don't bread true year after year if you want the exact same thing
ToiletPaperSeedlings by Ganado posted Apr 28, 2015 at 12:02 I've been thinking about hydroponic gardens and what to use instead of those $3 cups or plastic drinking cups. I saw this seeding idea using toilet paper rolls and was wondering what you thought... Is this usable or would it degrade too fast? @Mindgrinder
I see toilet paper rolls and I see pole bean starters. Maybe corn and melon for the 3 Sisters mound... DIY Seed Starter Pots from Toilet Paper Rolls Yup....good call...let's do it. I'll do it this weekend and a make a video and see where we're at June 1.... Thanks for the idea Ganado!
Cardboard egg cartons for seed starters maybe? They soak up water quite readily, no need to put a hole in the bottom.
They stuffed the bottom with news paper but idk if that will work on a tower... With all that water. =)
TXS ghrit we were looking at alternatives for towers and I seem to have too many tp rolls lately. I use the rolls with dryer lint to make fire starters but now I have too many =)
No suitable for the tower as these will be soil and I wont plant the roll....same as those "jiffy pots" - i don't plant the pot on those either even though it says to.
Did you stage that beer in your tower? Lol. Or were you hiding it from your brothers? Strawberries and beer for breakfast.... say it isn't so! =) Water tower looks awesome! I am surprised at the huge difference between basket lettuce and the tower.
*confession* - ya it was staged...but this IS the drinking garden right? I harvested all the spinach and F&F lettuce and took them into work still alive and growing in the netcups and dished out salad to some of the ladies and my new boss. They were pretty surprised. That lettuce, when you buy it in store is usually about 1/2 -1/3 the size of mine....it's SUPPOSED to be a little "add in gourmet"...pffft... Fast and Furious Blend Organic Lettuce Seeds
Nice start, so far. Good luck with it, however, motors make it easier, not possible. All the hack and slash the bush hog does, can also be done by hand. (Just slower). (And you never will get my name right [facepalm] it ain't difficult)
