THAT is a great idea. Very doable.

 

Easy enough to build. Would mount right next to the front door.....

 

The exwife and I had a chest of drawers very similar to this one. It was set up to hold jewelry. Although it was commercially made it was quite good. If you didn't know about the hidden doors and in one case drawers you would never know they were there.

If you are not home and you are invaded by some even half smart thieves/burglers you will find the place totally tossed, furniture disassembled and any thing of value gone.

The first thing a semi smart thief does is collect a number of Pillow Covers, the next thing is to hit the Master Bedroom and starting at the bottom of closets and dressers is to pull and toss the whole lot, what ever is good in that lot then goes in the Pillow Covers. Forget about using the freezer to hid valuables, that is the second place they will hit.

I'd go further but I do not wish to "better train" any thugs who may be reading this post. After all they go to prison to learn the ropes.

 

I've been hit once, while we were home and sleeping. Lost a Motorola radio, drugs from the medicine cabinet, a girl's leather jacket and some cash. (Pocket money) forced the same kitchen window on every house on the street.
If he had made it to the bedroom, he would be dead. I was awake, and entertaining the owner of that jacket. And at that time, there was always a Biden home defence device under the bed.
Inside my house, I'm not about to stop and ask if you are lost.
