I smelled like horse for the first 17 years of my life. Guided. On a river trip lately we ran into a group that was obviously connected to their animals lately. I swam with one of the stallions. Anybody have pics of their horses? We just don't have the right place for them now.... Thanks, Tony
I rode a Arabian throughout high school. Small little horse that had been trained as cutting horse. She was awesome, great personality and could turn on a dime. Went on many packing trips with her into the mountains outside of canon city co. Have not been on a horse since.
All of the pictures I have are on the walls not in the computer so I can't post any, but have been around horses since I was born. Raised on a ranch, rodeoed and my middle daughter barrel raced for a number of years. To this day a couple of the horses I've had were two of the best friends I've ever had..
I paid for books and beer in college breaking horses for people. I grew up on a ranch so weekend riding was easy. Never met a horse or a dog that can't be tamed. On a side note... The people I like the most on this forum seemed to have been raised on a farm or Ranch. Something to be said for online values I guess
I love animal people. Big Western. Had the barn destroyed around him in a tornado. Spooky. I was the only one he would let on his back. My lead horse on rides for the Twin Cities folk in MN. One kid from another lodge insisted riding him. Broken arm.
Last time I was on a horse, 1949 (with my sister.) Bert did not like tractors, but had two. Did most of the work with a pair of draught horses.
My uncle had s bunch of chestnuts, until some Bambie thumpers stole them, starved them, beat them, and tried to make people believe that HE had done it. Thankfully, he had pics, recent vet bills, and neighbors that knew better and had seen them recently, or he would have been going to jail. The Bambie thumpers hid them even from the court, until forced to produce them, and they were in such bad shape, all but two had to be put down. he never got over that, and has had no horses since. This was about 10 years ago.
Bambie thumpers have rights, focus groups, lobbiests, lawyers, and misguided sponcers. Horses just had the man who loved them, and they loved him.
Why not? I've done joisting and run the rings with a lance. Sometimes, you'd swear the horse was helping, other times, I'd swear it was betting against me....
I got my first horse when I was about 9, a beautiful strawberry roan gelding. I had many others through the years but the first is always special, my best friend. I used to think about getting a couple when I wasn't working so much but doesn't seem to be happening. Who know what tomorrow holds
