Many yrs ago a bud was in the woods and had to heed the call of nature. Dropped his pants and his old revolver dropped also. Bullet gave him a "Forest Gump" wound and he forgot all about taking a dump--lol. If a firearm is unsafe to drop then you do not need to be carrying it.
So has anyone asked what the teen was doing with a pistol in the first place? Was he the legal owner, was it stolen, what? 19? Thought you had to be 21 to legally own a handgun!
IIRC, handguns can be owned by "juniors" just can't be bought until 21. Not sure how that works, but has something to do with gifts.
Maybe the cat shot him in self defense. I could happen! The cat traded some cat nip for the pistol and...... Sheesh!

Well...availability of ammo or no, being a convicted felon means availability of firearms may be a bigger issue. Then again that's assuming he gives a rip about the law.
