Hey. Tell me you don't want bandaid on a boo boo. That's the first thing I think of when packing.

 

Another good reason to disband the Air Force, and suck it back into the Army again. The "chair force" isn't interested so much in flying anymore, as they now consider space to be their main domain, and terrestrial flying to be secondary.

Either that, or Congress just gives the A-10's to the Army, and tells them to fly them. I'm sure they could have maintenance crews and pilots trained and combat ready within a year. Then tell the Air Force what they can do with their close air support mission, and their F-35's.

 

Yo Ho Ho, I'd like to anchor me longboat in either of those land masses.

I would bet that it's the political critters who want to get rid of the A-10-A... the new sec def says that under no uncertain terms will the army take them... lets face it the F-35 is distributed over so many congressional districts that it's "Too Big To Fail"...

and @natshare .. the AF couldn't rejoin the army... all of us passed the ASVAB the first time...

Last I looked, the Army did own the Close Air mission once upon a time, and eff'd it up so badly, they made a separate service to divvy up the air assets. The average AF officer would do well to work at least one tour with a combat arms unit - much like the USMC does for their ground control parties.....

When I was working with grunts (yes, I humped a ruck in a TAC-p down to the squad level), and after 4 years of playing Army with a Combat Brigade, I'm glad they took the nukes away from them as well.

Met a lot of nice folks, worked with some real professionals. But those were few and far between....
