I would like to find a bolt action that can have its nose threaded & have flutes or accept a scope mount.
Every time Im in a a shop they are overpriced with no returns if the are junk and the pawn shops are trying to sell more that a 10-22 ..

I had a buddy pick one up who said he found a deal , It had a choke of two projectiles stuk in the barrel , & they damaged the barrel after I have removed the lead.. I now have a parts gun , Naw , we let the kids practice cleaning & working on this unit .

Maybe this winter the stores in WA have been refilled with these .

Taking as an indicator of 'favorite' being the one I take to the range most often for fun shooting, I have two favorites at the moment (will change eventually):
I put my 2000-era Marlin Model 60SB stainless into a new Boyd's stock, in sky blue laminate camo and thumbhole sporter design. Good shooter and looks great in her new blue party dress!
Second favorite is the Henry Golden boy I finally dropped coin on, after stupidly trading away my old Henry H001.

    My Marlin 60SB:

Not mine, but the same basic Henry Golden Boy rifle I have (my stock ain't quite as fancy!):

Nah just an idea I had and did not want to do a thread drift.

The .22 I had in mind would require a side mount scope mount. It's one deal I did some years back when I came across a Mossberg 44.

Main difference is you said you wanted a gun with "flutes or accept a scope mount" mine required a good drill press to drill the receiver to attach the scope mount.

After I posted I looked around the web and found my inexpensive rifle is now way over the horizon on internet sites. None the less if you find a decent one for $150, with magazine and non shrunken trigger guard, they are good light weight shooters. Sold to the US Mil as training rifles in WWll and then sold off to the public via CMP in the pre 2k time frame.

Good rifle and found more often than not at pawn shops in rural areas, shown on the left and a bit less than I paid for min in 2000.

I had a US 44, I traded for a 9 mm pistol. My favorite is a CZ452 American with nice wood. I recently won a turkey with it. The Bushnell scope on it went fuzzy on it so I just put a Simmons .22 scope on it. My most accurate is a Remington 540XR target rifle with a Mueller scope on it.

I have heard that the TOZ is a good rifle. I haven't seen any for awhile, are they still imported?

Mine's an old Winchester 9422 with a Leupold 4X scope sitting on top of it that's attached by a pair of Redfield, 'See-Thru' mounts. Like most lever actions it's very accurate, and faster than anything other than a semiautomatic.

Here it is without the scope and, 'See-Thru' mounts:

I love this gun. It's one of the few I've kept for more than 40 years; and, know what, it still looks practically brand new. (I've taken good care of it!)

Lovely rifle , Im coming back home in march (WA) & start to serious look at nice 22 's .. Im trying REAL hard to let my wife enjoy soft & easy .
I watched once as my brother in law spoofed my sister into firing off a 303 Brit-enfeild and knocked her over , SHE will never touch or have a gun in ""HER"" house.
