Thanks for comment @Tully Mars appreciate the compliment.... I like the shortish blades as well.... Never done a Gurkha type... working on a couple now that I'll share after I finish these up for the Monkeys... an international type inspired by a gift from a fellow monkey... PS... what exactly do you mean by "Gurkha type" Have a great weekend! Bear
Thanks @Mountainman Always thinking and working on new things... so many things so little time... I think I'm gonna stick to short runs like this... and then move on to the next idea.... Still have 1 idea to complete... and 2 others that I have in the works... Have a great weekend! Take Care and God Bless, Bear
Aloha @HK_User , @DarkLight and @Witch Doctor 01 No problems on the numbered markings... I'll need to engrave it in with my diamond engraver as I heat treated these prior to stamping with my touchmark and the blade is now too hard to mark (old fart stuff) Hope that is o.k..... Final edge on today.... engraving one I hear from each of you and these are ready to go as soon as tomorrow.... PM my your addys and particulars please.... Have a great Sunday! Take Care and God Bless, Bear
Gonna Rain so I tracked down the 3 new ones and took their moms and their pics. Along the way I took a selfie. Later for all pics
Aloha Monkeys, Well all 5 blades are off to their new homes... expected delivery on Friday... so maybe we'll see some action shots if their new owners are happy with them and decide to keep them @Mountainman asked about my ongoing projects... when here's some pics... I think I'll call this one the Silverback Blade.... Same great high carbon steel... but over double the thickness and different handle and tip... Distal taper from handle to tip of course... just like their "skinny" cousins Inspired by some blades gifted to me by my good bruddah @Hanzo (he's had a chance to see and handle these up close and personal) Jungle brute "parangish" is the best way I know how to describe this puppy... Two are being finished this week for someone here on the island... Gonna do four more and that's it.... I get bored easily and so I think short runs are the way to go... These will have curly koa handles with black liners... and I'm not sure if I will do leather or kydex on these... we'll see... What do you all think?... feedback is always welcome Have a great week all! Oh and by the way... Awesome pics of the newborns and mommies @HK_User ... nice indeed... thanks for sharing... Take Care and God Bless, Bear
Looking great as usual @Bear. Glad you are making some new stuff and looking forward to your future projects.
I like the third from the top. Good working blade, kydex for such a blade is a modern take on the wood sheaths of old. Count me in for one if not all gone. HK
@Bear...You said your making 4 and I am guessing (I never assume) that there will be 2 of each blade tip shown? Would be very interested in one of them with the tip design of the middle one.
Aloha @HK_User That is my favorite as well... although I like the middle as the more tradition look... I'll try to take a pic of the one I was gifted .... it has the wooden sheath... nice and the fit is terrific with a round ferrule ... hard to explain but a pic will show what I mean... I'll put one on the side for you in the third from the top configuration... #1 of 4 Limited Edition Thanks for the comment and the feedback.... I'll post pics of the the two I'm making handles for ... hope to GFlex epoxy them tomorrow... got them cut, drilled, counterbored and flat sanded today.... Take Care and God Bless, Bear
