Cutting charge anyone???....with slight modifications to accomodate a metal pole. Collateral damage may be an issue though.

 

Is it just me, or are they trying to send that pole into orbit? Isn't 1/2 of one of those blocks enough to snap the pole easily?

 

You are most likely right...I guess they are doing their bit to boost the military-industrial complex's profitability too. It looks like a softwood pole, so I'd probably just wrap one slab to the pole horizontal to the ground.
