So i was talking to a guy i work with and he said his wife is on a similar diet and he said it has given her bad breath and bo from i guess burning fat stores... has any one had this happen?
@tedrow42 she's in ketosis from extreme low carbing. Makes your breath smell like acetone. She's probably on Atkins.
Damn @ditch witch you nailed it but i thought these diets are about the same? Im gonna get the books bit i wont get them for about 2 weeks
be careful with diets like Atkins. Atkins nearly killed my Father. I don't know all the possible side effects, but his kidneys shut down. it was touch and go for a while.
he has recovered from that health problem. it seems he requires a LOW protein diet. no more than @4oz per day (that is a piece of meat about the size of a deck of cards) and a lot of rabbit food.
It's Spring. We need another round of Primal converts to join us Read the thread, order the books or check out these primers (attached). Also take a look at the highly motivational The Unconquerable Dave | Survival Forums
I ordered the 21 day thing a few days ago. I've always wanted to try something like this. I do my best to stay out of the middle of the grocery store where all of the prepackaged stuff is. I hope this can give me a good start.
When we were camping this weekend, someone brought up in conversation this woman they heard about in the news. She is a vegetarian or vegan and had a baby. She decided, in her infinite wisdom, to convert said newborn to a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle. Insane! She wouldn't breast feed and only gave the baby stuff like almond milk. Long story short, I think this woman's behavior was uninformed and criminal. The baby was malnourished and developed all kinds of problems. I guess breast feeding is not vegan. I'm no doctor or nutrition expert, but even I know babies are in the formative stage and need all the good nutrition they can get. Breast milk gives them everything they need for the first twelve years of life. Ok, I kid. Not that long. But if this woman at least breast fed her baby, it might not have developed all those health issues. Both the Chinese and the Hawaiians share a similar concept. Food is medicine and medicine is food.
I had read this thread when it started and thought it was pretty close to what I had done on Atkins with added exercise. Before finding this thread again I took a first step in changing my life. I took a look at what I ate, already a very low carb diet since I have hypoglycemia, and cut everything in half. Instead of two breakfast burrito's I'd eat only one, instead of a whole bowl of cereal I'd eat half a bowl. I found I had no more hunger than before, spent less, which allowed me to buy higher quality snacks, and I lost 10 pounds in two weeks without any added exercise. That was before I dug up this thread and started the exercise plan. THAT has really been astounding. I think some sadist invented planks, but I can see and feel them working! I've always been in pretty good shape, (USMC Retired - old habits and all that) but I was still 6' and 188 when I started with the diet change. The exercise has been a lot more fun than I remember it, probably because it's at my pace, lifting just me. I got the strangest looks when I started running up and down the big industrial stairs that end on a small landing at work. I'm clearly adding muscle, because the weight loss has slowed, but only four weeks in I can hardly believe what I see in the mirror. I'm probably in better shape now, at 54 than I was when I was 19, and I am motivated to work even harder at it. I have endless energy, sleep great, feel sharp and alert, and since this is so close to the diet I have been on for more than 10 years, I haven't made a big alteration in my routine. I'll be ordering the Primal paperback, and see what else I have been missing. (Great BIG Smile!!!) HD
Melbo, do you have a favorite planks routine? What is a good place to start. I did three minutes of standard planks, and one minute each of side planks. That was plenty for a start. They're back on the schedule tonight. I initially thought, "Let's see if I can read my book while I do these." Fat chance! I'm mostly concentrating on position and occasionally remembering to breathe. HD
