I have discovered over the last couple of months on the Primal plan that I have shrunk a bit...which is a good thing I have also realized that losing 20 lbs, I no longer fit into my current clothing that I wear day to day. I have since moved down a size in pants and shirts, belt and so on. Guess I need to go buy a new set of work clothes and such... What kind of accommodation have you made for weight loss if SHTF in your clothing? Have you kept older clothes that may be reused later on or have you made consideration to potential weight loss to ensure you have clothes that fit? Funny to have comments that your wardrobe needs to be updated to the smaller you. But if that happens after the fall, what is your plan to ensure you have clothes that are not falling off your body?
Spandex and elastic are your friends. Seriously I have a ton of sarongs... and I'm not saying that to sound cute or flirty. One big rectangle of material and I can have a shirt, a dress, or a onsie in 5 seconds. I see Burmese guys wearing them every time I go to Sam's club. You can't outgrow, or undergrow, them. Easy to move in, easy to work in, and requires no sewing skills to make. Best of all, for us gals who must cross our arms over our chest to run, you can cinch 'em up tighter than that old worn out sport bra ever thought of going.
How did I know a woman would be the first to post on this thread...hahahahhaha. I am going to refrain from going where I would like to go in response to the word Sarong. Sounds like.... oh jesh there I go. Anyways, that is an interesting idea with basic fabric to make a traditional outfit. Thanks for the visual DW.... run, go on and keep running I donated all the old clothing I had that was of a smaller size than I currently own. If the SHTF today, I would need to either wear the oversized clothing I have now or find clothing that fit better. Glad I am going through this excersise now vs later after the fall. Most jackets I have work well in layers, especially in our wet and cold climate. The pants are another thing and belts to hold them need to be planned better for me.
Best to get one's weight down to where it should be in the first place, then the size difference will be small. Waist measurement should be no more than one half the height. Easy peasy. Any roominess in clothing will give one room for layering, concealing items or keeping items warm against the body.
There is a point where roominess starts contributing to chafing, especially in pants. I've gone through this a little bit before (but unfortunately only one time) and once I hit a certain point I simply could NOT wear the same pants anymore. There ain't enough gold-bond in the world.
Yup, pants become a problem, after a while. There's only so much waistline you can scrunch up and fold over, in the back of your pants! Shirts are less of a concern. Same with socks & shoes. Underwear, however, could become a bit of a problem. Guess everyone will have to go "commando" after the SHTF, eh?
Looks like I've got it easy on this one. I quit smoking a few months ago, and I've increased one pant size and one belt size in that time. I still have all the old pants and belts (minus one pair of jeans that ripped while crouching down, which immediately preceded my decision to go pants shopping) so if I ever lose the extra weight, all I have to do is dig out the old stuff. After all those years of being 6 ft tall and weighing only 165 lbs, I'm turning into a fata$$. But, on the plus side, I should be able to live longer off my stored fat, and I have a full wardrobe of clothes that will fit for a while if I start starving to death.
I have lots of belts, plus I have clothes line. I am always on the look out for 100% denim jeans, they last longer then the spandex ones. Just in case things get bad, I know my Levis will hold up for years.
I'm of the opinion I can always wear clothes which are too big. Trying to wear clothes several sizes too small ain't gonna work very well. As for the Sarong... No. I'm Irish so it'd have to be a kilt.
i wear overalls alwas help up but the straps to buttons on the side to unsnap if u put on a little weight and it covers ur gut so u can were shirts that dont fit and plenty of pockets ....
Damn, I about choked on my drink. This is funny. Was this your high school prom outfit? I have heard of such an outfit but until now never seen one ....lol
