I saw it on tv side by side as they were both talking. I remember it was almost word for word. I dont think sarah ever said see russia from my house though. it was something about seeing russia but I dont think from my house were her exact words.

Sarah is a hell of a lot better than the current dork in chief.... when he moves out of the whitehouse they may need to just burn it down and start over with a new frame.... ;)

"But back in 2008 when she was the GOP’s vice presidential candidate, trying to establish her credentials on things like foreign policy, the ex-Governor of Alaska did say of Russia, “They're our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.”

Which is literally true – on a clear day if you stand on your tippy-toes and gaze from the Alaskan island of Little Diomede across the International Date Line to the unpopulated Russian island of Big Diomede two and one half miles away."
Sarah Palin: 'I told you so on Ukraine' - CSMonitor.com

So it wasn't her that showed ignorance but the vast majority of news commentators and political satirists who have no grasp of geography.

    This is the transcript from the actual Charlie Gibson interview where that comes from. Of course when it aired it had been heavily edited to show her in a bad light. This is what she said;

GIBSON: Let me ask you about some specific national security situations.

    PALIN: Sure.

GIBSON: Let’s start, because we are near Russia, let’s start with Russia and Georgia.

The administration has said we’ve got to maintain the territorial integrity of Georgia. Do you believe the United States should try to restore Georgian sovereignty over South Ossetia and Abkhazia?

PALIN: First off, we’re going to continue good relations with Saakashvili there. I was able to speak with him the other day and giving him my commitment, as John McCain’s running mate, that we will be committed to Georgia. And we’ve got to keep an eye on Russia. For Russia to have exerted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable and we have to keep…

    GIBSON: You believe unprovoked.

PALIN: I do believe unprovoked and we have got to keep our eyes on Russia, under the leadership there. I think it was unfortunate. That manifestation that we saw with that invasion of Georgia shows us some steps backwards that Russia has recently taken away from the race toward a more democratic nation with democratic ideals. That’s why we have to keep an eye on Russia.

And, Charlie, you’re in Alaska. We have that very narrow maritime border between the United States, and the 49th state, Alaska, and Russia. They are our next door neighbors. We need to have a good relationship with them. They’re very, very important to us and they are our next door neighbor.

GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?

PALIN: They’re our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.

GIBSON: What insight does that give you into what they’re doing in Georgia?

PALIN: Well, I’m giving you that perspective of how small our world is and how important it is that we work with our allies to keep good relation with all of these countries, especially Russia. We will not repeat a Cold War. We must have good relationship with our allies, pressuring, also, helping us to remind Russia that it’s in their benefit, also, a mutually beneficial relationship for us all to be getting along.

She also said in 2008; "‘After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama's reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia's Putin to invade Ukraine next."

Let"s see if Tina Fey or any others use that quote.

"...I'm sure that at the Basic School, the phrase "An Officer and a Gentleman" is still dusted off occasionally." and somewhat loosely at times. I recall having lessons in mess etiquette and customs of the service....Eating eating peas with a knife at a formal dining in night was inevitably a challenge as a young officer, until a sage platoon sergeant, wise in the ways of military eatin' etiquette put me onto honey as a passably temporary pea adhesive.

I eat my peas with honey,
I've done it all my life.
It makes them taste quite funny,
But they don't slide off my knife.

It's something my grandmother taught me (the rhyme). Haven't thought of that in DECADES.
