What are you bedside table guns, the ones that are ready to go. I have a Remington Spartan 310 double barrel over/under with a modified trigger to allow both barrels to fire simultaneously and automatic safety removed. Lower barrel has jungle shot (OO buck with B.B.s shoved in around them) upper barrel double weighted steel slug with lead center. I know they sound crazy, but they are a couple of specialty rounds I bought and really liked. The combination destroyed the two sheets of plywood was using as a target. I always laughed at the novelty/specialty rounds at gun shows, but I have been converted. I also have a Ruger SR40C with filled hollow points.
What do you all think of a 22LR? I have been in a debate with a coworker and he just about has me converted.
No bedside Weapon, but S&W 29 8-3/8 in the Gun Locker in the Bedroom, my Browning HiPower in the Office/ RadioRoom, the Winchester 1300 Marine Stainless ShotGun on Pegs over the Front Door, the DPMS AR10 with 24" Stainless Bull Barrel on pegs over the Front Window, right next to the M1 Carbine. Momma's Stainless Dan Wesson .357 Mag with 10" Bull Barrel fitted, lives on top of the fridge, in the kitchen. All are loaded, with appropriate Ammunition, for their intended purposes. This is the LAST Cabin one would want to try and take, even with an Army.... .....
Everything is loaded except the hunting rifles........ Primary S&W M&P 40 Backup S&W M&P Shield 9mm Mossberg 590 with 00 and buck & ball alternating plus 5 in the side saddle. AR's ready to go.... And if all else fails, the Night Monkey machette
I only have my old duck gun, Remington 870 with #6 lead shot in it, Pretty sure it will take out a knee cap or sac' at 10 yard's. I'm sure Joe Biden would approve.
Air soft only because I would not want to hurt someone that wants to kill me [sarc1[ AR's with hollow points and shotguns with buckshot on each side of the bed. Carry pistols are also there. Want to party???
If that's all you have its better than nothing. If that's what you shoot best then a hit with a .22 is better than a miss with a .45.
This has been a subject on many boards for far longer than I can remember. That said, I'll say again, I'm not comfortable with maneuvering a shottie around inside a house. GP100 on the bedside table with 125 gr JHP 357 mags in all 6 holes. It's worth the note that the nearest neighbor is 90 yards away, and a down perp is worth a hole in a wall EVERY time.
A .357 Hole in the wall, is easily Patched.... Cleaning up the mess, after the Coroner hauls the Body away, will take a lot longer. However, all that is STILL a much better outcome, than to let the Perp, have his way with Yourself, and, or Your Family...... ......
I plan on suing the family afterwards. It used to be that they could sue you (civil court) but not anymore here in NC thanks to our Castle Doctrine upgrade. There is NO such protection for the perp's family and if I have my way, they are paying to fix the holes, replace the carpet, put down new linoleum/wood and paint the walls.
Bedside we have a Mossberg with buckshot on her side, an M-4 on mine. Kimber .45; in mattress holsters. Compact .45 and a .357 loaded with +P+ reversed hollow base wadcutters in my nightstand, 1911 Randall and a Bren 10 mmin hers. We also have a few knives at hand. We have other weapons spaced throughout the house and some in interesting places. The .22 is fine if you can shoot accurately. It's bee used by assassins since since the roaring 20'S and still serves in that function to this day. As with all calibers I advise you to keep shooting until they go down. Nothing will ruin your day like someone who shoots you after they take a double tap to center mass and you think they're done for. I highly recommend the three shot system, two to the center mass then one to the head, but that takes training and experience to execute under stress. JMHO'
I agree darklight. I used to leave my doors unlocked when home, even when I slept, and when asked why I said that if someone came in my home uninvited they deserved what they got. And SOMEONE would have to pay for the damage and mess that would ensue. Unfortunately I can't do that anymore. And the people here have a bad habit of just walking into anyones home that they feel like it. Finally have the neighbors afraid to do so but there are others out there. Lurking. Just waiting... They also think they can knock on any door and ask for anything from food to cash.
Ammo? A couple bucks. Wall patch? A Sawbuck. A perp of bad intent leaking all over the lawn? priceless.
Damnnnnnn! But I could take it. Sniper rifle. Nice to see someone else out there as enthralled by guns as we are.
