National License-Plate Tracking System

Right...futitive illegal imigrants. Like ICE (or our current or last 3 administrations for that matter) give a damn about illegal ALIENS. Immigration is a legal process. If you don't go through the process, you didn't immigrate, you simply crossed the border and are living here as an illegal alien.

WILL A LEAD BOX SHIELD THESE RFID/GPS CHIPS FROM BEING READ FROM SATELITES? If so, I am more and more considering constructing same and carrying all my suspect ID and cell phone in it.

 

Right, because we know that someone who is in the country illegally will register the car in their name.

 

Specifically, the license plate scanner is a OCR software that pulls information from a camera. They don't use RFID for this specific piece of data collection. My question is...what type of camera is used and is there a way to subvert the information that the camera gets.

For example, if you have a smart phone (I've seen this effect on a number of different phone screens) and you are wearing polarized sunglasses, you get a funky rainbow effect and in some cases you can't read the screen, which has nothing to do with sunlight glare.

Would it be possible to, for example, spray a highly reflective film on the license plate that would cause the camera to see a bright box? Would it be possible to create a license plate cover (a mud cover to be sure) that is polarized horizontally on the "outside" and vertically on the "inside" so that the naked eye can read it just fine with no indication of anything "amiss" but a camera would get nothing?

That's just a couple of things I was wondering about.

Of course, this leads to a still being tracked by the bright spot where a license plate should be or the green AMC pacer that we just get a blur from...I mean really, how many green AMC Pacers are still on the road.

If enough people participated though, it would make things more difficult.

If only the cameras weren't there in the first place. I gotta think they aren't cheap and if enough of them quit working or disappear, I'm sure it would be cost prohibitive to replace them.

I thought I remembered someone testing the common items to "hide" a LP. I wonder though, about putting a ring of Infra-red LEDs around the plate, maybe they would hide it, as some of the comments at the link suggest?

 

I have a feeling that on many levels they are already doing it and they like it so much they want more...

 

I predict license plate thefts.

 

I feel that is an understatement. They, the Power that Be, have been growing at an exponential rate and will stop at nothing to control everything and everyone in someway, shape or form.

Their biggest deterrent, is the Constitution and they have been slowly chopping away at that so it's merely a speed bump instead of a blockade now. Next in line are those that support the constitution and will do all they can to make sure the PtB honor it.

They keep using that word...cancel...I don't think they think it means what WE think it means.

In my area, speed cameras, referred to locally as "revenue enhancement cameras", have been placed at certain points along the roads. These are supposed to detect when a driver is speeding and snap a photo of the driver and lic plate. Both the city and county have them, but the county recently cancelled (ref. - Darklight's comment) the contract with the company that is supporting them (no longer using them to issue citations) and the city is about to follow suit. To date the cameras still have not been physically removed - hmmm.

Most around here look upon them with disdain. The citations are actually delivered by mail, which is in violation of a state law that says that a traffic complaint must be issued and delivered by a peace officer. But government entities seem to only be loosely bound by laws these days. Our federal government barely recognizes the presence of the Constitution.

Some people have sandblasted their license plates leaving only the numbers painted. The rest of the plate is shiny aluminum which is supposed to cause an overexposed and presumably useless photo. I've never heard any confirmation as to whether or not this actually works but it's pretty simple, low tech.

 

In californication, it is common practice to fight a camera ticket, by demanding to face your accuser in court (the camera) as is your Right. The ticket gets thrown out.

 

I've heard of people discarding the tickets that they've received in the mail. There seemed to be little the state could do about it. This concept was brought about in a foreign country (Australia I think) where people may have no such rights.

 

Who puts their plate on anymore ?

I threw mine in the seat holder inside the truck, I mean after all I bought and paid for it so its my property !
